Working Woman
Working woman in the TGC sectors forms about 80% or the
total number of workers; and about 70% of the members of our
trade union. The ages of the majority of them varies between
18-27 years old. The majority of them studied till the
secondary school or more.
Most of them are new in the labor market.
Because of that you can not find enough experience among
them, especially in the labor law and the industrial
relations.
Because of the great attention that the
trade union is giving to woman, it assigned three seats in
the EC for women.
There are three workshops the trade union
conducts from time to time especially for women. Resource
persons from USA, Japan, Algeria, Egypt and Jordan lecture
in them.
On the other hand, a special committee of
(40) forty women was formed to take care of woman concerns
and promote her participation in activities. Five of them
were named for the membership of the woman committee in the
General Federation of Jordan Trade Unions. In addition to
that, our trade union formed labor committees for women in
the main jobsites to open channels of communications between
the working women and the executive committee and facilitate
conveyance of problems and opinions of workers.
