1- Worker’s Day

On May 1st this year, TGC trade union celebrated at its place in Amman, on the occasion of Workers’ Day. A number of workers who supported the trade union deeds for years were honored. One of the TGC trade union’s founders Brother Musa Quaider was also honored by a token gift presented to his wife Um Yousif. Also, in the celebration a number of media people who cover the news of workers and trade unions as well as one factory which showed through years a good cooperation with trade union were all honored.

2- Teksef 16th Conference

Our trade union was invited to participate as a guest in the 16th conference of Textile Workers Federation in Turkey Teksef. Brother Fathallah and Sister Sameerah Melhem answered the invitation and attended the conference. During their stay in Ankara they met and had talks with many guest delegations as well as the Teksef people. Some of the delegations they met were from Macedonia, Oz-Pakistan, Slovenia. With all the delegations talks focused on the bi-relations and the situation of workers in these countries, and how each trade union deals with such problems. Many delegates promised to plan for visits to Jordan to exchange experience with the Jordanian unionists.

3- ILO Conference – Geneva

Brother Fathallah participated in the ILO conference with the Jordan Federation’s delegation. The Jordanian delegation had good participation in the works and activities of the conference; specially in the committees of human resources and vocational health and safety. During his stay in Geneva, Fathallah met with the Japanese, the American, the Indonesian, the Philippine, the Norwegian, the Italian and Singaporean delegations. He also met with Mr. Suzuki the Secretary General of APRO, Mr. Neal Kurney President of ITGLWF, Mr. Gay Raider President of ICFTU and all the participating Arabian delegations. All the meetings focused on the importance of Jordan in the region as a partner in the peace process, and its vital role as a country that can be a seasonal place for investment. On the other hand, many problems of workers were discussed especially with the Arabic delegations.

4- Middle East Forum of Workers in Textile and Garment

Colleagues Mo’d Abu Zeina TGC vice president and Fahed Utti the secretary, participated in the above forum which took place in Barcelona- Spain. The forum discussed the problems and difficulties that face Textile and Garment Industries, and agreed to continue meetings to overcome these difficulties. Many bi-meetings took place between the Jordanian and other delegations focused on the importance of the exchange of experience and organization.
