| PRODUCTION NOTES Real Video Encoding It seems that even though it had been made for a 56kps modem that the real video still is streaming at too high a data rate. best thing to do it to download it. The Filming This video started production on september 17 1997 [Only a few months after leaving school!] and was my first film. It was mostly completed by the end of 1998, with odds and ends add at later dates. This ended up making the film a bit patchy. Also the script was rewritten as the production went along which made things harder. The scenes at the end of the film were done in a rushed due the lack of time left to use the college studio. And the Davros mask was a kind of torture for me, as it became very hot and wet inside there. Also I had to put on a voice and push my lip through the mouth of the Davros mask, which ended up making this sound slurd moslty at the begin of the big dalek undergrounf base scene. The set itself was also a big and heavy. It was made out of old doors painted black, with insulation pipes and backs of tv's sprade silver. The two end walls were eight by four double layer plaster board sections which weighed about a ton. The Dalek were also a pain to move even though there was only ever one full size one used. The SPX The exploding daleks were really 30cm models which had fireworks and or lighters taped togther and then lit. I remmember on a test shot the firework slide and melted the side of the model dalek and then fired a spark at the camera which then exploded and nearly knocked the camera of, which by the way was stolen twice in this production but luckly it was insured. The lasor effects were painted on frame by frame on a computer which can be time cosuming. The video was also edited on computer. Finally Threre was a 3 year gap between production and editing because of the lack of editing equipment. This video was made years ago and things have changed. One I am much better at making films than before, and two due to changes in the crew there will be no sequal but there may be a special Edtion later on. |
