The bot that's so exciting it actually had an award named for it is back!  This new version of Adrenaline is set to compete in ARC: Vengeance this fall and winter.  For this new build up, the whole bot was redesigned starting at the drivetrain.  This new version sports two Tork EM45 Omegaforce Custom motors (originally tested in Copperhead), putting out 6.2 HP each for a balance of moderate speed and torque.  The motors were fitted to a pair of custom Tractical foam filled tires at a 9 degree camber for enhanced maneuverability and traction.  The driveline uses 7/8 steel shafts and custom 8-bolt stainless hubs ensuring that the wheels can take a hard hit without breaking off.  The batteries are a 36V NiCd system with the electronics and batteries shock mounted to prevent impact breakage.  Rounding out the base innards is a Tork EM12 with an additional 9:1 chain reduction driving the weapon turret.  This motor spins the turret at 190 degrees per second, allowing a full rotation in just under 2 seconds.  This bot is all about defense, and defended it is.  The bot's structure is 1 1/2" tube steel with a 1/2" aluminum overlay.  On top of that, it has shock-mounted armor plates and wedges made of 1/4" titanium and powder coated bright green.  The rear has a specially designed anti-spinner plow made of 1/4" spring steel.  The weapon on this bot is mounted on a 360 degree rotating turret to allow full offensive and defensive ability from all sides.  The turret uses the same armor set up as the base and has an independent control and power system, so if the head gets knocked out somehow, the base can still function completely.  The weapon this time around was changed to a speed hammer, replacing the old flipper.  The hammer is powered by two EM45OC's, the same as the drive motors.  These weapon motors use a custom 33:1 right angle gearbox.  The axe is 4'6" long and can strike and return in less than one second.  The shaft is a titanium "I" beam drilled for weight reduction and has a 1/4" titanium sleeve to protect the portion of the shaft that is exposed when the hammer is retracted.  The head is a 5 pound custom machined tool steel pick axe.  To allow this large axe to be swung so quickly without tipping the bot, the base has been magnetized near it's outer edges.  This keeps the base planted firmly on the floor when the axe fires.  Because the turret motor is in the base, if the axe stops working while fired, it can still be used to swing horizontally at opponents.  If flipped, Adrenaline can turn it's head until the axe faces the ground and use it to push itself back onto it's base.  If the axe is inoperative, the head can turn to slowly maneuver the bot back onto it's wheels.  This method is slower and less effective, but is a failsafe in desperate situations.  The only place the axe can not fire is directly above the center of the wheels due to clearance issues.
