General Information Unicorns are usually portrayed as simply horses with horns, but they are so much more. Unicorns are mystical beings with a body similar to but not exactly like a horse's and a single horn upon their head, from which their magic flows. Their horns are made of bone and some other mysterious, magical element, and are usually light in color. A unicorn's body is more lightweight, graceful, and delicate-looking (though it is actually very strong) than a horse's, and can sometimes be luminous. They are also normally much taller than a horse, though some very small unicorns do exist. Unicorns may have hooves of silver or gold, and their coats, tails and manes may be of any color, though they are usually depicted as white or silver. A unicorn's coat, mane, and tail usually grows much longer than a horse's, and is much silkier and pleasant to touch. They have strong teeth, just like a horse's, that can bite down very powerfully, and their hooves are usually very sharp as well. Their eyes are brighter and quicker than normal for a member of the equine family, and can be any color. Despite the fact that a unicorn is very powerful and could easily kill a human (and defend itself against other, more powerful beings), unicorns do not act violently unless they absolutely must. It is not within their nature to attack or be aggressive, and will only do so if they or their allies are in danger. Even then, a unicorn will not kill unless there is no other solution. A unicorn's powers are, like their nature, usually peaceful and used for the powers of good. Though the powers generally depend on the unicorn, there are a few select ones that are found in almost all unicorns. They include the ability to heal, the ability to purify liquids and food, and the ability to communicate (whether through the spoken word or mental images depends on the unicorn). The strangest of these is the ability to heal; in some cases, this power is used on a patient by a unicorn by piercing him or her in the heart with the unicorn's horn. This is why many unicorns have been hunted down and killed: so that the horns may be cut and sold for fortunes upon fortunes. Nearly all unicorns, however, can communicate with humans or other creatures - and they can all communicate with each other. Unicorns may live anywhere, but most are said to live in forests and valleys - and, in particular, near springs. Like all creatures, unicorns must eat and drink, and a forest with lots of edible foliage, hiding places, and a good water source is an ideal home for a unicorn. I myself have only met a few unicorns: the Lady Amalthea, Nico, Lightfoot, Moonbeam, and a couple of others. How many have you met?
