| Lock of the Week: The 49ers over the Giants (+3.5) The Giants have lost almost half their team from last year, which really hurt the defense. That is good news for Garcia and Owens. Look for them to have at least 2 scores on Thursday. Another negative for the Giants is that Tiki Barber pulled a hamstring in his last pre-season game that might give him trouble in the season opener. The only positive for New York is the new addition to TE, Jeremy Shocky. But will it be enough to overcome San Fran's powerful offense? I don't think so. Look for the Niners to win by at least 10 or more. A No Doubter: Indy (-3.5) over the Jags Is there any reason why not to take the Colts -3.5 over the Jaguars? I sure can't think of one. The Colts offense doesn't look like it lost any of it's fire power in the off season. With the addition of Dungy as the coach, the Colts' defense is almost guaranteed to get better than last year. As for Jacksonville, they are still waiting for their #1 receiver to sign. Brunell hasn't had a good year since the 90's. Plus they are hoping that Fred Taylor at least plays 2 games without getting injured. Colts should at least win by a TD. Sleeper of the week: Seattle (+6.5) over Oakland I know that the Oakland Raiders are a 6.5 point favorite over the Seattle Seahawks. I just don't see them having the year they did last year, since they lost Gruden. Seattle will control the ball and clock with Alexander. It will be a close battle, but Seattle will win it with a field Goal in Overtime. Take the Seahaws and the points. |
