The Song of the Lioness Quartet
Title: Alanna: The First Adventure (Book 1) Author: Tamora Pierce Review: This Book was great in my opinion. It had all the parts a great fantasy book needs. It has magic and adventure. Alanna is a unique female that just loves every thing about knights. Her best friend is the prince of the realm himself. Alanna has a lot of fun just hanging around the castle and the city. She also becomes best friends with the king of thieves. I just could not get enough of her and every time Tamora Pierce has another book come out I jump on it hoping that Alanna is going to be in it in some way, because were ever Alanna is adventure follows. And throughout this tale Alanna must keep her true identity hidden.
Titles: Hand of the Goddess (Book 2) Author: Tamora Pierce Review: The first book was good the second book is better. In the first book all the people Alanna interacted with were pretty much mortal but in the second book right off Alanna meets a god. Alanna makes new friends and losses others. She also makes enemies at the very same time. She has fun and also faces new adventures that test her abilities to the limit. In this book a romance develops between Alanna and one of her friends. Romance is a new thing to Alanna. In the end Alanna lets her secret be known and learns to love.
Title: Woman Who Rides Like A Man (Book 3) Author: Tamora Pierce Review: In this book Alanna has given up her secret and has her shield. Alanna leaves one culture and is incorporated in another for a time. Not all goes well for her but she does her best. She losses and gains things she cherishes and all for the better. Enemies she thought were long gone surface in ways you could not believe. Of all the books I have this is one of my favorites. Just for the reason that the main character is a woman. Title: Lioness Rampant (Book 4)Author: Tamora PierceReview: In this book all of the things that have happened in the previous three books come together. If you haven't read the other three books in the series then you really should before you read this one. Alanna goes back to palace and finds out what has been happening while she has been away. Not all of these things are good but she also achieves a height in her role that you would never expect. This is I think the perfect ending to the series. The thing to remember is thatthis is not the last that we will see of Alanna. (Look to The Immortals Quartet for more of Alanna)
The Immortals Quartet
Title: Wild Magic Author: Tamora Pierce Review: I think that Tamora Pierce has again done a wonderful job of bringing to life a female heroine that will always stick in my memory. In this book a girl named Daine is introduced as the main character. Daine is a very unique thirteen-year-old that loves animals and believes that she is a non-magical being. Daine has wild magic and has very little control over it. She meets new friends that help her learn to control her newfound powers. She meets people that she first thinks of as people that would never socialize with her because of what she is. In the end though she learns that she has real reason to believe that she is in some ways their equal. One of the people that befriend her is Alanna a female knight and good friend on the King.
Title: Wolf-Speaker Author: Tamora Pierce Review: Daine is now on an adventure to save friends of hers. The twist is that her friends are not human. Having non-human friends is at times a benefit and at times a down side. Daine learns things about herself that change her perception on life. She learns new ways to use her magic and new ways to help her friends. All in all Daine has an adventure that could last a lifetime. The thing is it doesn't need to. |
