The lot of them found facing quite a problem--bandits--and lots of them. Zeku took a deep breath and headed for the nearest one. YRP on the other side of the battle field tackled groups of them together, and even Zell and the others helped out a little bit.
A bandit charged at Zeku, but she swung her leg up and kicked him in the face. He dropped back and she struck his knife away from him. As the others lunged at her, she flipped back a few paces, picked up the knife and stabbed the oppressors in the stomach so they'd be injured, but not dead--she didn't like killing people. She looked over and YRP was doing just fine, Yuna as a gunner, Rikku as a blue mage, and Paine as a dark knight. She glanced over at the newcomers and they were doing just fine also. Squall was swinging that gunblade around like he owned the world, Irvine was joking around with his Exeter, but Zell...Zell attacked with ease using moves that made Zeku knit her brow. Every jab of his knee felt familiar somewhere in her.
Her concentration was cut off as another bandit jumped her. She wedged her knuckles into his face and let him fall by himself. Yet another jumped out from behind a bush, but she didn't flinch. She'd seen him there in the beginning, as a coward hiding, but she respected his decision not to get hurt so early in the game. She kicked him right in the chest and sent him flying back where he came from. Then, Zeku headed for the others where were all just about done.
The survivors of the mess scrambled off, quite frightened--that had been a complete failure! Or had it...? The others cheered, slapped hands in the air--high fives all around! We celebrate tonight! However, Zeku just stood and watched them go, not partaking in the celebration, when she realized it and her eyes widened suddenly. "Don't wait up for me!" she called, then ran out after the bandits.
"Zee! Where are you going!?" Rikku called after her, but shook her head, looking up at the newcomers. "Zee does that sometimes. I dunno...sees a couple steps ahead of everyone else. I guess it's really a good thing, so I shouldn't complain, but she gets blunt about it."
In the midst of their conversation Squall's cell phone rang loud and clear. He struggled with his belt to pick it up, and when he answered he was a little breathless, "Hello? Yeah, we're all here...well... I mean sure. Alright, just tell Cid we'll leave tomorrow morning." He flipped the phone off then shrugged at the others.
"No...no! I'm not leaving!" Zell yelled.
"They're going to clean out her room tomorrow...Don't you want to see that they do it right?" Squall asked, crossing his arms and taking a stance. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine stood at the side of the conversation, completely clueless.
"I want to stop them," Zell said.
"You don't have much of a choice." And that was that.
