Chapter Three

News of her trip traveled quickly and soon enough, Seifer, sitting in his room with a cup of coffee in one hand and the newspaper's front page in the other, had heard of her soon-to-be escapade. He had a few little tricks up his sleeve for her given the opportunity to catch her away from Zell for a few days. The phone rang, and he looked up--strange, this wasn't his usual cell phone ring tone. He pulled that out of his pocket, careful not to spill his coffee, but it wasn't his cell phone ringing. That's when he realized--oh--it must be the other phone.

He pulled the top drawer of his desk open and reached for the small cell phone that was ringing with a vibrant tune. "Hello?" Seifer asked as he flipped it open. Seifer waited for a reply, but since the connection between the two worlds were weak, he mainly just heard static. "Hey, speak up whoever you are."

"Seifer!" the person on the other end of the receiver yelled over the static in attempt to catch his attention. Seifer recognized her voice the second he heard it and set down his coffee mug and pushed his newspaper aside. "Seifer, have you heard the wonderful news? Three girls, one of which is from your area, are coming to Magality this Friday."

"Yeah, so what's your point?" Seifer asked. He and this girl Sarah went way back to who knows when. Maybe it was when he left the orphanage or a little bit after that, but he knew it was sometime in his past. Sarah was a witch from a different "area" or world. Whatever you want to call it. They'd met out of pure irony when getting caught in the same traffic at Deling and ended up yelling at each other from across the street to just "move it!" Every time Seifer recalled this he'd both chuckle and shudder. Shortly afterwards, she'd set his shoes on fire with her uncanny abilities, just to show him who's boss.

"Well, see. There's this excellent little bit I've been saving for a while now. It's a sort of spell that can only be completely in a little place near Magality and requires three candidates, two followers, one leader," Sarah began to explain. Seifer took a sip from his coffee mug and considered it. "Basically, the three will eventually become completely powerless. It's any perfect opportunity to test what willpower really means. Just one thing--they need to actually accept either verbally or voluntarily the spell in whole. What do you think?"

"Very interesting," Seifer smirked. "I see what direction you're taking this and it could be amusing. I'll come along with them to Magality too, then. We can meet there? I want to see it follow through."

"That's exactly what I was thinking," Sarah said and Seifer could just almost see her smirk over the phone--if that were possible.

"Actually, I know the girl from our world. She lives here at Garden with us and her name is Lina Heartilly. Wanna hear something weird? She's a sorceress from both worlds," Seifer scoffed. "How whacked out is that? Anyway, go ahead with the whole thing. I think I know how to get them to 'accept' it. So tell me more about it."

"Well, damn. They've just got to accept the shit, leader being the most powerful, and eventually they'll be under our control," Sarah mumbled. "It's blunt, but you'll get it when we meet in person. It's nearly impossible to break out of, which makes it even more amusing."

"That's great," Seifer smirked. Maybe he'd been hanging out with Sadie for a little bit longer than he should of because as of that moment, he'd had some kind of dislike towards Lina that he knew he never had before. Great. More fun. "Alright then, in that case, I'll just see you in a few days, Sarah. Later." He hung up and smiled--he was ready for a little break from this place.
