Suddenly, in the middle of the night, some irritating ring startled the daylights out of Lina. She shot up like a bullet, listening to something rivet her table to a shaking bundle. "What the hell!?" she called out and stumbled to get up. It was none other than Zell's cell phone--yes that one either he hadn't picked up after class or she'd forgotten to return. WHATEVER! Didn't matter right then and right there. It was that same ring during class, except louder and with vibrate on! AGH! Great! Just great! Add on to her crappy ass day why not!?
Blindly, she tripped and tumbled towards the direction of the ringing. It was dark and she couldn't see anything except for that stupid blinking light it was emitting. She tripped over something that felt hard and painful like her book bag on her way over towards the light switch. As soon as she hit that thing on she snatched the phone up which after what felt like ten minutes hadn't stopped its annoying ringing, but no! It stopped that obnoxious ringing right when she had it in her hands.
Resisting the urge to call the person back and give them a piece of her mind, she looked at the screen: "One missed call." She pressed enter and almost exploded at the result. SADIE had called! She wanted to scream! That girl had ruined her mood too many times that day! In a blind fury, she swung her door open and stormed into the hallway. Zell's room, Sadie's room, where, where, where?
But she'd seen Zell today! RIGHT there! That was the one. Room seven, she was sure! Without thinking anything through, she pounded her fist against the door loudly enough so that she was sure it'd wake him up. If she couldn't get to his girlfriend she'd break him down first. She was tired of two "dynamic duo" screwing around with her day! She could hear a stumbling sound and something falling over. The door opened.
"I think your girlfriend has something to say!" Lina yelled--once again not thinking. Oh everyone was just full of surprising guts that day, huh? She chucked the phone at her head. Zell dodged it--almost as if instinct. The entire commotion had aroused quite a little crowd, starting with none other than Irvine and Selphie.
Selphie almost screamed out loud. Irvine, instead, stood there frozen in his sluggish sweat pants and T-shirt. Lina, who'd been previously guided by a blind rage, snapped back into the reality of things and looked around at the scene she'd just created. Here... we go! First off, she already had one foot in Zell's room! And naturally she hadn't had time to change into something a little more appropriate for anything besides sleeping, so she was wearing the same tank top with those same pajama pants she'd changed into hours ago. Zell on the other hand--wonderful, just wonderful--had on nothing but a black T-shirt with red letters "I AM THE KING" in front and boxers!!!
The first thing Lina did was slap her hands to her forehead and sigh, "Ohhhh SHIT. Selphie! SELPHIE! Stop, no! Nothing happened!" More and more people who'd heard the noise arrived in the hallway to see what was going on. Lina's cheeks went red--what would this become? "No, no, wait... guys listen!" It wouldn't be long now until--oh too late. Sadie had left her room and come to see the spectacle. After a while, people lost interest and began to leave. All except for Squall, Rinoa, Irvine, and Sadie. And through this mess, Zell couldn't do anything except laugh.
"You think this is funny??" Lina asked him. He had his face covered with his hand, but from it, peeked up at her, cheeks red from laughter.
"Well, heh, yeah I do," he said. Lina shook her head, but kind of chuckled. Yeah--I guess you could say it was funny.
"WOOOOOO HOOOO!! What'd you two do tonight?!?" Irvine hooted sarcastically. Selphie set him in his place right away with a slap on the head. Squall even contributed with an elbow to his stomach. Rinoa naturally, had to follow with a bruise to his shin. He'd have trouble going back to sleep that night. Well, Irvine dropped to the group to nurse his wounds, and meanwhile, Lina took a step away from Zell immediately. Lina was about to explain, but saw Sadie's pale white face. She shut up immediately--wouldn't her voice only make things worse?
"I'd like to know what happened," Sadie demanded although she was trying so hard to be calm. Lina caught Selphie roll her eyes at Sadie's remark. Zell, for some reason, couldn't stop laughing behind the awkward protection of his hand, letting out random chuckles of hilarity every so often. Lina elbowed him hard to get him to stop, but he didn't. Before anyone could answer, Sadie flounced away to her room. They heard the door slam shut behind her.
"Look. Nothing happened," Lina explained now that the witch was gone. "Zell's stupid cell phone woke me up in the middle of the night after a really bad day, so I threw it at him. But, he ducked." Zell nodded, rubbing his hand against his eye to wipe the tears; he didn't seem to care that his "girlfriend" was probably in her room thinking up all the worst possible scenarios that could have happened. After hearing that, Squall, Rinoa, Selphie, and Irvine left with a short bye. Lina turned to Zell, "but really now, what is so funny?"
"I just... heh... I don't really know. The whole mistake was hilarious though. What made you get out of bed, out of your room, into this cold hallway and try to chuck something at me?" he laughed again. "Oh that was too good."
"Hey. I've been having a bad day, okay? I didn't know it'd end up here though," she sighed. Zell gave her a pat on the shoulder, still smiling widely. "I get it. 'Gotta lighten up.' That's what they all say. I'm really sorry though. I didn't mean for everything to get all... blah."
"No, no, don' worry about it. I'll handle Sadie--maybe, she'll understand." Zell nodded. "Probably not the right way to dump her though." Lina gave him a weird look, but he just laughed. "Lina, your face when Selphie came out--that was priceless. Frikken priceless." Lina smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, yeah. I get it. Goodnight, Zell." With that, she left. Zell turned back around and went into his dorm, thoroughly satisfied with the day's ending.
