Lina sat in the back of the cafeteria again, careful to stay away from Sally and Zell for now they'd think she was evil. She was thinking about life without her here.
Zell is more busy with out me, Selphie's less hyper because I never introduced her to Karen, Dan never came here, Sally's nice, G-soldiers run around more often, and Seifer's worse than ever. Does that mean the world's better with me or without?
Someone sat down in front of her as she was thinking these thoughts. He was a boy wearing a familiar black cowboy hat with little metal rings attached to the leather strap around it. She looked down at the table and tried to pull her cap down a little more to cover her eyes. "Um, hello," she murmured softly. The boy looked up from under the hat and revealed to her his familiar misty blue eyes. "Zell?" The boy tossed a silver necklace onto the table casually. Lina stared at the design of the heart and the rose, her heart skipping a beat.
"Mornin', Lina," Zell had a slight smirk on his face. Lina's eyes lightened up immediately and she almost cried with joy. Zell to the rescue. ZELL TO THE RESCUE!!! She wanted to jump on him, smother him with kisses, hold onto him until the end of time, or even just grab his hand and hang onto it forever, but she knew she wouldn't... despite how much she wanted to. It was not only because it would seem weird in public, but also because, looking down at that silver necklace with the beatiful design of the rose held in a small heart, it snapped back to her that she and Zell were no longer an item.
"I knew you'd come!" she said excitedly, but she controlled herself. Zell smiled happily. "We can't be seen." Zell held the necklace in his hand and looked at her.
"Let's go somewhere private then," he said. Lina nodded.
"Back to the dorm."
(Readers, from here on, the story will get a little confusing unless I give the Zell's two names. So, here's how I'm going to try and explain it. The Zell from Lina's world will be referred to as Zell, heh heh, of course. And, the Zell in the world where Lina doesn't exist will be referred to as Dincht. Just to make it all a little simpler.
