Chapter Twelve

A huge explosion pounded through the west side of the wall of the room and hooded figures in black stepped out. Kira looked around for shelter, holding a scared look on her face. She tried to run away. Lina and Squall fought them off. Lina used her powers, but they had some kind of barrier around them. Everytime she touched them, she was thrown back...who were these people?! The others attempted to stow away the very frightened Kira who ended up crouching close to the tile ground, convulsed in her own fear, as Irvine, Selphie, and the others stood over her as if they were a human shield.

The people in hooded capes attacked them until they were thrown against the wall and almost knocked out cold. One of them grabbed Kira violently and left. The others attempted battles. One challenged Karen, but did not defeat her, nor did he win. She would fire her arrows at them skillfully with merey one hand, the feathers at the end of her arrow swiping quickly past her fingers and straight towards the hooded man, but it was always thrown back when it got to the person's invisble yet powerful barrier.

The people who were attacking Lina on the other hand, had had her corner and were preparing to finishing her up, but she had a few tricks up her sleeve. With her back almost against the wall and about five or six hooded people closing on her, all she had to do was wait for one of them to do one of the most anticipated attacks. And, one of them did luckily. One of the stupider hooded men threw an energy ball at her, but at the exact same time she threw her own blast of her powers out, and as expected, the neutral force of their blows caused a large explosion among them, including Lina. She took the blow in as it blew her up and over closer towards the wall, but as her back was headed for her, she quickly did a backflip, having her feet land herself horizontally on the wall. She quickly scaled down the wall and kicked a few of the black, hooded men down in great annoyance with them.

Dan was trying his best not to pick any fights with these almost invincible strangers, but he was willing to attack. As soon as he charged forward to attack with his gunblade held tightly in his hands, the beat on his feet against the hard tile ground driving him forward, they all disappeared, following the man who had kidnapped Kira.

"Everyone go to your dorms," Squall demanded, yelling at the top of his extremely frustrated lungs. The students, through their murmuring and silet whispering, left to the Dormitory in an unorderly fashion, but Chichiri, Zell, Dan, Miaka, Selphie, Lina, Squall, and Seifer stayed obviously. They were part of the situation and knew they might be needed for battle or for reasoning. Either way, they knew they would be needed, so they continued to stand there, silent, until all of the students had reluctantly filed their way out of the Quad.

"They're too strong," Squall muttered and the others felt a great depression pull down on their hearts. Would the Alpha team of Balamb Garden have finally met their match? This would not be the end of their legacy. There was a hiatus in their conversation as Zell and Dan quickly ran over to shut the doors of the Quad, fearfully. If any of the students knew that the strongest warriors of Balamb Garden may have finally been defeated, the spirit of the mercenary academy would be crushed, vulnerable to their enemies' attacks.

"I have a suggestion," Seifer said calmly. All eyes turned to him.
