Chapter Eighteen

Lina blinked. Her eyes became inflamed with fury and they returned to their normal color although the saber was still in her hands. It wasn't possessing her, she had finally broken its horrible spell. Seifer looked at her, amazed and confused. How could she break the Ancient Spell? Perhaps there was some kind of secret behind it all. An angry look appeared on her face as she grasped the hilt tightly and held it out in front of her, ready to strike at any moment. She stared at him, her provoking eyes piercing through his skin.

"Bring it," she spat. She gained speed as she ran forward to tackle him, head on. She swung her sword at his head, but he blocked. He got pushed back by the strength of her swing. He kicked at her and drove his sword forward, but skillfully, Lina dodged it and did a jump kick, attacking him suspended in mid air. It wasn't just the fury that propelled her; cutting off a chunk of her hair was nothing, but that had just made her snap back to reality. Herself in general had broken the horrid spell and was driving her to attack with all her might.

In one quick movement, Lina jumped above him, over him. She landed lightly on the other side and just as the man turned around, she jabbed back until her hands were at the side of her waist, clutching the hilt of her sword tightly. She sighed curtly, taking a deep breath and there, the battle ended. She heard a muffled cry from the man and when she turned around she saw, as she had predicted, that the sword had gone straight through his body and blood was now squirting out of the wound in all directions, creating a crimson river on the cracked, thirsty ground. He leaned down and fell into his own puddle of blood.

Lina almost fainted. She dropped the sword and leaned against the wall painfully, clenching her wrist, trying to stop her own blood. The others were still focused on Squall and his wound and only a few noticed Lina's situation.

"Lina, are you alright?" Zell rushed in front of her and helped her to stand. Chichiri popped up behind the two of them and tried to help. But, it was in fact Zell who had helped first. He tore a piece of his sleeve off and tied it tightly around her wrist.

A giant mirror suddenly appeared behind Lina. In it held the reflection of an old lady wearing brightly colored cloths, flowing in all directions, including a very noticable yellow shaw floating in the air around her. It was Taiitsukun, the woman who had helped Miaka return to her home and find the parts of the Shinzaho's. "Lina, watch yourself now," was her warning.

"Huh?" Lina looked around weakly, almost falling down again. A white light was emitted from body and pain engulfed each and every muscle in her. She screamed in agony as her outline began to fade. Zell tried to grab her, but it was too late.

"Lina!" Chichiri and Zell both shrieked.

Where will Lina end up this time? Find out in the following story. (Fushigi Yuugi ending music here :-D)
