Chapter Sixteen

Back at Garden, Zell had almost completely lost it. It'd only been a few days, right? Just a week or so, but she hadn't called. There'd been no contact whatsoever. Zell hadn't left his room willingly for anything. Instead, he spent all day next to that cell phone waiting for some sign that he was over-analyzing everything. He hadn't even eaten dinner for the past three days. DINNER! THREE DAYS!

Then, suddenly, the phone rang while Zell was all the way across the room. He dived over the couch and onto his bed, fingertips just reaching the cell phone's side. Quickly he answered the call and brought it up to his ear. "Lina!?" he asked, his voice shaking, but it wasn't Lina at all.

"Um... no, sorry um... Mr. Zell person is this?" it was the voice of a boy on the other side-a voice that seemed rather breathless, and all together awkward all together. "Um. Yeah, look. I don't have much time and I can't talk for long, but Lina's in trouble. Just come down here and hurry. Don't ask just hurry and come!"

With that he hung up. Zell blinked once--enough time to take that all in, then dashed away towards the bridge. On the way, Quistis demanded to know what was all in a hurry since now Zell was actually willing to move, but Zell just pushed her aside and yelled, "GET THE RAGNAROK. RIGHT NOW!" He would fly through that portal if he had to.

He reached the bridge (finally) and pushed Squall aside who'd been standing somewhere next to the intercom microphone and said, "Alpha Team, assemble at the front gate immediately." He turned around and saw Squall who'd ended up on the floor looking at him like a mad man. His expression asked Zell what the hell was the matter, but Zell walked past him towards the front gate. "Set course for Magality."
