Chapter Eighteen

When Lina finally awoke she found herself in a bed in the Infirmary. She blinked a couple times, stretched her arms out, and turned her head to the side, and there was Zell smiling with relief. "Thank God!" Zell yelled, jumped next to her and threw his arms around her freely. He smothered her in heartfelt kisses, then helped her sit up while setting himself next to her. "You scared the shit out of me!"

Lina smiled, obviously too weak to laugh, and wrung her weary arms around him. It just never felt better. "How long have I been knocked out for?" Lina could still feel the smarting in her arms, sides, and everything else that ached so dreadfully.

"About three days and two hours too long," Zell chuckled and kissed her forehead. "You know... that guy um... Ron called me. He seems pretty decent, Lina. A good friend." Lina smiled and chuckled only a tiny bit even though it hurt her sides to do you.

"I know, Zelly," she smiled. "I wish I could have thanked him for all he'd done though." Zell closed his eyes and nuzzled his nose into the side of her neck. "Aw man... I'm starved. Where's the food?" Zell just laughed and kissed her like she'd never left.

Three months passed by and Lina made a full recovery. Her thoughts that wandered far from where she'd been rescued from. In fact, she never wanted to go back, ever. She had started things anew here and life had accepted her. When she tried that back where she came from, she'd been reverberated to the past where conditions had been unbearable. And so, with this in mind, she'd cast away its remembrance, and life never felt so carefree.

Now it was a cheerful and sunny day, typical weather for a Balamb springtime. The normal group were having a picnic out in the sun in not neglecting the sunshine for a minute. A lot of them decided to play a game of Frisbee, and at that moment Selphie had the Frisbee in her possession (have mercy).

"Catch this!" she called as she chucked it with all her might up a little hill and into the woods. "HAH! I bet you can't get that now CAN you?" With her Nunchucku strength it was fairly easy for her to do so, but the others had not the spirit to try and stop it--nor retrieve it for that matter. The lot of them exchanged looks until finally Lina obliged herself to do the deed that no one else could accomplish.

She ran up the hill, into the trees and froze as she saw just up the distance a boy about her age with his back turned to his rubbing the side of his head, the Frisbee in his hand, and his eyes wandering the treetops as if it were a sign from the skies.

"Um... I'm sorry about that," Lina said, and as the boy turned around, Lina immediately caught a glimpse of his crystal blue eyes. "Ron... what are you doing here? Or... how did you... er... get here?" He kind of chuckled and rubbed his forehead.

"I live here," he laughed.

"Oh well, sir. It's nice to meet you, My name is Lina Heartilly," she held her hand out to greet him. He took it and shook her hand happily.

"Hello, Lina. My name is Daniel Alanson, but you can just call me Dan."
