ABOUT THE GAME
So far the history of the game is not that long or detailed, but hopefully that will change in the future. During the winter months I began to become slightly obssessed with online multiplayer sports management games. Racing, cricket, soccer, you name it. I had also been heavily into the AFL Dream Team and as this was the closest there was to a football management game, I decided it had to change. Monday October 29th 2007 will go down as the day in history when the idea popped into my head. I began to think of ways to take this basic idea and after continually adding to the ideas, I managed to start the creation the day after (uni seemed to take ages that day!). Just 2.5 days later and I had already spent 12 hours of development on the basic game simulation engine. Already games were ready to be run, although they would take significantly longer than I, or anyone could handle (having to be manually run every step of the way). Gradually things began to progess with the website the next item on the agenda. With just over a month until the beginning of the pre-season competition, the game is looking to be ready to go in time for the 2008 season.

The humble beginnings of Fantasy Footy. Pre release version with minimal testing and still a relatively slow game simulation engine. Basics of Australian Rules Football incorporated. Kicks/Handballs/Marks/Hit Outs, with the ability for out of bounds plays and rushed behinds. Fantasy stats for all players manually recorded. Game simulates with almost no human intervention, statistics not recorded, and rushed behinds had to be removed. An intermediate stage, but still an important development in the game. Statistics automatically generated, game runs quarter by quarter with almost no human interaction. Games can crash occasionally but has built in save points. Rushed behinds still not implemented. Very little testing. Issue causing game crash resolved. Minor tweaks to the game engine to make simulation more realistic. Official website launch.
