| The Rules are simple. Here they are: 1) All fights are to the death. Every character is allowed any weapons they would normally have, but vehicles (other than those in the arena) are not. Mounts are not considered vehicles, therefore, Ghengis Khan and others like him can have thier horses, but Capt. Kirk, Han Solo, others like them cannot have the Enterprise (in any of it's varations), the Millenium Falcon, or other starships. However anyone that knows how or can learn could potentially drive one of the cars in the city. 2) The arena is cleared of innocent bystanders. Various inner workings of the arena will still work, (elevators, automatic doors, etc.) though these things will generally not interrupt or effect the fights. 3) As always, original story lines don't matter, (Darth Vader could kill Luke, etc.), other than how they effect grudges, of course. Malissant has never met Gandalf or many of the others in his own world, but he sure hates them in this one! 4) There is really no 'teams.' This contest is 'every-being-for-themselves', so if it came down to it, Batman and Robin would have to fight to the death for the win. Of course during the competition various alliances will most certainly occur but they are all temporary. 5) 'Picks': Every author gets two characters as their 'picks.' The first is locked so that the author is the only one who can 'bring in' that character or write the death of the character. The second is locked so that the author is the only one who can 'bring in' that character, but the death is open (though hopefully not immediate). example: say I choose Peter Petrelli and Paksenarrion. When I choose to bring in Peter, he will not die until I write the story. Everyone else will still be able to write his actions during their 'turns' of course. However when I bring in Paksenarrion she could be pulverized by any author on their turn. Though the #1 pick is often called the 'immortal' pick, authors should refrain from keeping them around an unusual amount of time. Sure Wolverine can regenerate, but eventually even he dies (lightsabers cut adamantium, per prior stories). 6) This time E-mail ALL turns to me as well as the next person in line. I will put together the turns and post them here on the web so others can read 'as it happens' if they desire. Also if some one is too busy to write, I can forward to the next person after them, to speed on the action. I know this means there could be two people writing at once, but hopefully not and I will judge which one to print if that happens example: RJ sends his turn to me and to Mark. If Mark tells me he's too busy then, or too much time goes by, I can forward the info to Carol or whoever is next. 7) Some time around August we will decide the final number of competitors/ rounds and begin winding up the story. The actual ending may not be posted for a while however depending on circumstances at that time. 8) As creator of this tournament I, Brian Ailshie, will settle any disputes. I don't expect I will change any rules, but it has happened before. If I do, I will e-mail all current subscribers, and post them here. To subscribe or to send any complaints e-mail me.
