| Match 1 - Brian Ailshie Goblins vs The Mob Group B - Manhattan John Madden: That Tendril's got quite a reach doesn't he? Al Michaels: He sure does John. He's got both the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin pretty tied down. Madden: He sure does. Whoa! He just slammed the Hobgoblin into one of the buildings. His glider explodes fantastically. I think it's pretty safe to say he's outta this one. Michaels: I'd have to agree with ya on that John, and the Goblin won't last much longer now that Tendril can focus his attention on him alone. There, he's got a solid hold on him now . . . Whoa! Way to go Doc Oc! Dr. Octopus just lobbed some of the wreckage onto the plant-man and set him ablaze. The Green Goblin thanks him and takes off into the air. Each team is now down one fighter. Madden: Make that 2 from the Goblin team Al. It looks like Gorgon held Venom paralyzed with her glare, while Wallflower thrashed him. Of course that's alerted the Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus. They zoom in on the attack. Octopus latches onto Wallflower and rips her limb from limb. Then turns on Gorgon. Michaels: Yeah, but it's too late for the Green Goblin. Gorgon paralyzed him too. His glider smashes into the building as well and now it's Doc Oc against the two Mob'ers. Madden: Make that one Mob'er. Dr. Octopus just snapped Gorgon's neck with his metal arms. That finished, Dr. Octopus leaps from the building and starts thumping down the road on his metal arms. Before long he comes upon a real mob of people. RJ: But didn't we clear all the arena's of innocent bystanders? Brian: We did. But the graveyards were obviously overlooked. And that's where Coffinshaker does his best work. He's animated a whole cemetery full of corpses, and sent them to attack the good Doctor. Madden: Eight limbs just isn't enough. Michaels: Especially when even the hardest blow doesn't kill any of his foes. Madden: How can he kill any of them? They're already dead! Michaels: And so, Dr. Octopus goes down under a barrage of zombies. Winners: The Mob (1-2) Goblins (0-2) NY Heroes lock Playoff bid (seed not yet determined at this point) Wild Card Race Closes. #1-Kurgan's Killers, #2-Tolkien's Heroes, #3-Big Monsters, #4 Rohirrim. Match 2 - RJ Harris Kill them All vs. Goblins Group B - Manhattan RJ: Well as this group starts to wrap up we have 2 winless teams trying to not join the 17 member Toilet Bowl. Since someone has to win, each team would much rather it is them. Mr. Obvious: But they could end in another DRAW-we have had 5 of those matches too and they we generally between evenly matched teams like this one. RJ: True, but the Goblins hold the advantage because they have more members. Anyway, the action starts with K.T.A. appearing at Times Square. Shortly afterward, the flying Green Goblin and Hobgoblin, distract Bullseye enough that Venom takes over the legendary sure shot. Carnage, realizing what is going on, also invades his teammate. Jamie: Is that even legal? RJ: Well in fantasy, anything can go. Meanwhile it is a 3 on 1: Scorpion is battling the 2 flying goblins when Doc Ock come jumping down from the Rockefeller Center and smashes Scorpion to bits. Mr. Obvious: With the only two foes remaining inside the same personage, the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin start firing pumpkin bombs at Bullseye/Carnage/Venom. Venom realizes what is gong on and leaves. A few loud explosions later, nothing remains of either Bullseye or Carnage. A flawless victory goes to the Goblins. Winner: Goblins (1-2) Kill Them All (0-3) Match 3 - Robert Newell Red Hand Team vs Wizards Group E - Xavier's School Mat Cauthon had drawn up an excellent battle plan. He was pretty sure that none of the enemies' magic could harm him while he was wearing his medallion. So Mat went against his better judgement and used himself as the bait. He sent his forces around the perimeter to flank his opponents as he charged. Wuntvor and Spelldor were so shocked that their magic disappeared before hitting Mat that they couldn't even bring up their defenses before Mat stabbed both of them in the faces with his ashanderi. Elminster was not so surprised. He had dealt with dead magic zones and had countermeasures ready due to his status as a Chosen of Mystra. Mat swore as his medallion all of a sudden stopped chilling his skin. Elminster snuffed out Mat's life force, but then he came under fierce attack. Egwene struck out with the Power using a shield woven of Spirit. Elminster's connection to the Weave was cut off. He wasn't even sure how that was possible. Thom stabbed the old man on the throat. His contingencies instantly teleported him to Safehold. As Safehold is outside of the arena, the judges rule forfeit. Winner: Red Hand Team (2-1) Wizards (2-1) Match 4 - Brian Ailshie Outlaws vs Hidden Dragon Group Y - Tombstone, AZ Mr. Statistics: Well once again, the last match of the Group is decisive as to who will go onward and who will go home. This time the winner takes the #2 seed. Brian: What happens if this is a tie match? Mr. Statistics: The numbers would be marvelous. We'd have to compare the two teams' TBS. and see what happens. Mark: Let's just see what happens instead of looking so far ahead. Brian: Certainly. It looks like Hidden Dragon is upset about losing two of their team in each of the last two matches and are determined to win this one. Li Mu Bai flies across the arena and slashes into his foes. Jesse James and Billy the Kid go down fast. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid open fire, but the Chinese Warrior flies away to quick. John Madden: And while the Outlaws are watching him, Jen Yu attacks from their flank. The Green Destiny relieves Cassidy's head from his body! A quick leap and Sundance is firing at thin air as well. Yu Shu Lien charges in from the opposite side, and takes out the final Outlaw. Winners: Hidden Dragon (3-1) #2 Seed, Group Y, Warriors #1 Seed Outlaws (2-2) Match 5 - Robert Newell Team X vs The Tribe Group E - Xavier's School In the game of rock-paper-scissors, titanium beats rock. Colossus smashes Cinderblock up pretty thoroughly. Gambit and Majik exchange energy blasts to a standstill. Beast stalks Saber through the halls of the school. Beast knows this territory very well. He ambushes the Tribesmen's leader and rends him limb from limb. Majik has a slight edge on mobility over Gambit and was ready to go on an offensive when Bolt showed up. He motions for his teammate to attack the cajun from the opposite direction. To his surprise, Bolt attacks him instead. He was quickly overwhelmed by Bolt and Gambit, but he did take out his traitorous teammate before he went down. Professor X wheels out from hiding and Gambit thanks him for helping him out. Winner: Team X (2-1) The Tribesmen (0-2-1) Match 6 - Brian Ailshie Band of the Red Hand vs The Tribe Group E - Xavier's School Brian: Bolt was too fast for Egwene. Before she even saw him coming, he'd ran by and smacked her in the face. Not Santa: And at the speed of electricity, that smack turned her face into a soft jelly! Anybody got some crackers! Mark: You're scaring the kids. Will you just leave!?! Not Santa: Hey, you created me. But now I can do what anyone wants me to do. I'm staying right <eject> heeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrre! Mark: Thanks. Anyway, let's get on with the match. Bolt comes zooming back past and catches Mat. The Medallion plays it's part though. It saves Mat's life in fact. Robert Jordan: Yes, it's been shown, in the match between Mat and Magik in fact, back in the 2nd Tournament, that his medallion also stops mutant powers. Brian: Yep, so it stopped Bolt's speed and electric powers. Bolt slammed to a stop faster than his internal organs could handle. He falls to the ground, blood trickling from his ears, nose, and mouth. Mark: However, the speed also played it's part on the medallion. It was reduced to powder. Jordan: Oh, that's not good. But my three are still a formidable group of master swordsmen. Gawyn locks in with Saber, to prove that point. Mark: Master with a blade he may be, but Thom is no match for Cinderblock's strength. He falls beneath the behemoth's right foot. Jordan: But I was right, Gawyn is the better swordsman and Saber goes down. His blade also find's Cinderblock's heart, and stops him too. Mark: Yes, but at the cost of Gawyn's life. Cinderblock backhands him in the face with his dying breath and snaps his neck. Brian: So now it's down to Mat against Magik again. Mat beat him before. But that was mostly due to the medallion. Ashanderi and thousands of battle plans don't do Mat enough against a man who can wield the explosions of the very atoms of the air. Magik takes out Mat to end the battle. Winners: The Tribe (1-2-1) Band of the Red Hand (2-2) |
