The title of this is all wrong. The CP is currently undergoing a curriculum change which will do away with the seminars that you are all familiar with. In it's place will be a variety of specialized courses that you can take and hopefully earn credit. I took part in a pilot program, we were the first group of students to test out the new courses. We had a variety to select from like Organizational Leadership, Human Resource Management, and Hospitality to name a few. I was part of the Practicum course, which was similar but different to the seminars. The Practicum met once a week for 2 hours, which was nice considering that the leadership course met for 8 hours at a time (There goes your day off). The Practicum was a very interesting course which discussed a variety of topics such as guest satisfaction, cast excellence, business results, and general Disney trivia. We had simple journal entries to write each week, and occasional short one page papers. Nothing too difficult at all. Finally there were two short multiple chice quizzes which were based on class assigments and general Disney knowledge, like how many theme parks are in the resort. I believe almost everyone passed and received their Ducktorate Degree. I've already got mine framed and hung on my wall. We were given the option of taking them, so should this happen to you I say go for it. While you're particiapting in the College Program make the best out of every opportunity. If you're looking for a future with the company, or anyone for that matter, a Ducktorate on the Resume will definately stand out. Plus you learn some really neat things. |
