Caged Passion

i am in a cage

of my own devising

i took my love

and trust

forged the metal

out of fires

that burn

from hidden

deep passions.

welded the bars

out of my devotion.

i stepped in

to the cage

of my own freewill.

i shut the door.

took my soul

used it for the lock

and locked myself in.

my heart is the key

i give it to you.

now i will sit here

quietly

waiting

for you to come

set me free.

to fly

and soar

and yet be sheltered

within your love.
