Okay, keep in mind these are just my theories, but they are consistant with the description of things in the Star Wars movies.

The force is shown to see the future, i.e. Luke seeing Han and Leia getting tortured, the Emperor predicting everything with wich he formulates his plans and strategys, etc.

To peek into the future, the force must be free of the boundaries and limitations of linear time.

Darth Vader chokes an admiral over subspace video phone, and we see it instantly.
Luke predicts Han and Leia's torture across light years.
We can assume that the prediction of the chosen one was at an even huger distance in space and time.
But, the first two cases show that those distances don't matter to the force.

So, the force is unbound by the speed of light, if anything, it's at the speed of thought, and you get instant gratification no matter what barriers it has to punch through to grant you your will.

Stick with me, I'm getting there.

So, the force is faster than light, it's unbound by time, and it surrounds all things.
If it surrounds the universe, and the universe is expanding at the speed of light, and the force is faster than light, and thus it's unbound by time, then it surrounds all time.

If the force surrounds all time, and can transmit images from all times faster than light across the universe, then this is how Jedi are able to see into the future.

But, even the force is subject to the heisenburg uncertainty principle, so it's a hazy picture, for as Yoda says "difficult to see, always in motion is the future".

But, if you noticed, the CLOSER the future one tries to forsee, the blurrier it gets.

Luke and Yoda can't forsee if Han and Leia are going to live or die, and the Emperor totally doesn't see what's about to happen to him at all.

Conversly, the FURTHER away in history a prediction is made, the clearer the image, and so much so, it is deemed a prophesy that is reliable enough to be handed down in Jedi lore.
Hence, "the one who will bring balance to the force".
If the future is so hazy, these sort of prophesies would be rendered useless in a matter of days, once uncertainty began to break things down, and the future over even a few hours began to show that that prophesy had been altered.

But, it apparently doesn't, the prophesy comes to pass.

So, isn't this back asswards?
Why do prophesys come in cleaner and clearer as they see further in the future?

Imagine it like standing in a flat feild and seeing a castle way off in the distance.
you can't get a good look at the castle because there's the slightest bit of a humping up of the ground blocking it from your perspective.
You've probably experienced the phenomenon, you'll be driving on a road that seems like there's no one else there, then from your agle of vision at least, a car will pop out from the opposite direction from this teeny little bump on the road, after you pass the car and come up on that bump, you can now see it was a deep dip, enough to conceal the car from your view.

So too, does this not quite a hill hump obcure some of the castle.
But, climb up onto a higher hill, and you can look DOWN ON the castle, and see everything.
You're further away now, but you can see the whole object.
You can't see it clearly though, just he whole picture.

Now extend this to four dimensions, and this is how prophesy can clearly see an overall picture.
Just like you can see the whole castle, but not in good detail, so too is the prophesy vague.
It leaves out a lot of detail, like WHO the chosen one is, HOW he'll bring balance to the force, and it totally leaves out that LITTLE MATTER of DARTH VADER WIPING OUT THE JEDI!

But just as the force is unbound by time, the prophesy is self fullfilling through the midi-chlorians and the Jedi.

A.An ancient Jedi forsees the chosen one.
B.The force creates Anakin to balance the force.
C.Anakin/Vader brings balace to the force fulfilling the prophesy.
D.The hazy grainy image of this goes back in time to the midi-chlorians in the brain of an ancient Jedi, sending the loop back to A.

But, this is viewing it linearly.
The force surrounds time.
To it, the above timeline is a 3 dimensional slice of a four dimensional woodgrain pattern in the universe.

The destiny of Anakin is a certainty that has to be played out, this imbalance and re-balance is just a quick hiccup to the force.

But, with a little uncertainty thrown in, the imbalance is a certain blob shape in the woodgrain, but the nature of uncertainty melts and oozes that shape like woodgrain-like whorls in bubbling mud.
Anakin's destiny is certain and self fulfilling, but the exact WAY it was to play out was unclear.

This is why the Jedi council, being closer in history to the upcoming events, have an even tougher time seeing Anakin's destiny.

They're too close to ground zero, it's too late for them to alter the tides of time.

They're doomed.

So, all of this is all a part of the natural action of the force.
With help from the Jedi of course.
Who in turn are part of the living force.

Bada boom, bada bing.
