Her mother, Hina, gave birth to twins. She was one of them, the other is Hiei. Her brother was thrown off the island because he was a fire demon and is forbidden. She lived with her mother's friend, Rui, because Hina died. Yukina left the floating island of Koorime in search of her brother. Yukina was first appeared being captured by Tarukane, and evil rich (and ugly) man. Hiei delivered a tape to Yuusuke from Koenma about the mission to rescue her. When Kuwabara saw Yukina in the tape, he fell in love with her. Later on, Kuwabara telepathically talks to Yukina, and she tells him where to go and other things. Tarukane captured Yukina because he heard that Koorimes can produce gems from their tears(Hiruiseki) which sold for very high in the markets. He locked her in a room with warded windows. She sat there having little birds for her company(she loves birds, you can tell from the picture). When Tarukane entered the room, she turned the temperature down to freezing with her ki. She wouldn't cry the gems so he tried various ways to do so. He brought the Toguro brothers in to find a way to make her cry. Toguro Ani(elder Toguro) killed two of her bird friends. Yukina cried a few Hiruiseki, but that wasn't enough, so they used spirit wards instead.

Tarukane heard that the Reikai Tantei were coming to rescue her so he made a bet with the other members of the Black Black Club(a club for rich people) on Toguro or Yuusuke and Kuwabara. Yuusuke and Kuwabara defeated all the monsters in their way and reached Tarukane. The last bet was either on Toguro or Yuusuke and Kuwabara. Hiei came in and started punching Tarukane with blood spurting out. Yukina stopped Hiei from killing him, because she didn't want to see anyone dying even if they abused her(not that way). She asked him who he was. Hiei told her that he was with Yuusuke and Kuwabara, not telling her that he's actually her brother. He didn't want Yukina to know that her brother is violent and seen so much blood in his life when Yukina has barely seen any at all. If anyone told her, Hiei would kill them.
When Hiei was leaving for Makai, Yukina gave him her mother's tear gem, and asked him to give it to her brother if he sees him. Hiei tells her to forget about her brother and move on with life. Yukina listens to him, and perhaps because she already figured out that Hiei was her brother. She even said "onii-san" to him. |
