The pommel has been carved out of the most expensive gold and extremely strong bronze. Three steel bars form a 'D' guard over the hilt and pommel. A purple tassel hangs from where the bars meet.The flashing steel blade has been tempered countless times to give it an edge that lasts forever. As you carefully run your thumb along the edge of the blade a dark line of blood forms. After investigating the blade's edge you barely notice slight blue runes that have been etched along the entire length of the steel.This very beautiful, yet lethal cutlass is one of a magical nature. The long silver blade gleams brightly, and you notice runes flowing over the surface of it. It appears to have been forged very, very long ago. The edge of the blade is among the sharpest you have ever seen, and it has been forged and reforged so many times that the blade is extremely durable. The hilt is carved out of a remarkable white material which you have never seen until now. As you stare at the sword, you suddenly feel as if it is...alive. Its presence feels like a pure, warm light shining upon you. It is made of dark, nondescript wood. It has a jagged iron head and looks quite vicious. It has blood- red fletchings. The hilt is wrapped with a fine silver band which has golden leaves and stars set upon the silver. Yet, for all its beauty and glory, it is a truly formidable weapon. The handle of the polearm is about two and a half feet long. On the last six inches is attached a large blade. It looks similar to a long, flat axe blade. You think you can do a lot of slicing with this weapon. It is longer than the average halberd, and the blade is serrated. A coat of dark blood covers the jagged edge. It is well used but still very tough. While it was not made for combat, its long reach makes it a weapon not to be taken lightly. This fine piece of gear must be a gift from Gondor, the only source for this black wood. The blade is forged from black steel, appearing to absorb the light around it. The crosspiece and spherical pommel are made of a more mundane steel, while black leather binds the hilt tightly. The sword is free of decoration except for an etched red eye at the base of the blade. This weapon has been forged for one purpose only - to take the lives of others quickly and with minimum effort. Rumour has it that this weapon enshrouds its wielder in a Black mist, and you begin to wonder what it would do to an opponent. The edges of the sword are lined with a substance that makes it glitter oddly in the light... perhaps diamond shavings. Its hilt seems surprisingly soft; you would probably enjoy slaying both man and beast with this fine piece of art. It seems that excellent care has been taken of the sword as there are no signs of wear whatsoever on either the blade or the hilt. Looking more closely at the black metal, you see numerous pin-sized holes lining its edge. There is a thick, black liquid clinging to the blade's edge. At the end of the shaft is a wicked looking metal piece. It is crudely shaped but razor sharp, with chunks of metal sticking out hideously all over. Clearly a weapon of the fierce Haradrim. But it would still cause a lot a damage as a slightly sharp, very heavy club. It appears to be the tusk of one of the Haradrim mumakil, but it has been carved on one side to form a fierce blade. The tusk is stained with splotches of fresh blood along the blade. The point of the tusk could pierce almost any armour. Name: corsair's cutlass %% Pelargir, old captain %% Value: %202% Status: standard item Wield: one handed Power: Negligible Desc: This is a corsair's cutlass, crafted by an ancient mariner from the finest of steel found in Arda. This polished curved blade glistens in the light. The handle is made to fit the curve of your hand and is strapped with the softest leather made. A blue gem, the color of the sea, is embedded in the hilt of this weapon. Name: corsair's rapier %% Shores of South Gondor %% Value: %165% Status: standard item Wield: one handed Power: Low Desc: As soon as you lay your eyes on this fine sword, you recognize the excellent craftsmanship of the thin, double edged weapon. The blade is straight as an arrow, and its sharp point is complimented well by its even sharper edges. Forged many times over for strength, it still retains the swiftness and suppleness of the noble's dueling weapon that it resembles. Name: crimson longsword %% Cirith Ungol, Mordor %% Value: 250 Wield: one handed Notes: double hits occasionally; leaves "The mutilated remains of " Desc: The blade of this longsword is a dark, gleaming red color, lending it an evil aura all its own. Its blade has become its current shade of red from years of being polished not by oil, but with blood in its stead. The hilt of the sword is shaped to resemble two serpent heads that wrap around one another in a deadly embrace. The long blade seems to glow softly, as if it has been enchanted. There is no doubt this is a very deadly blade if wielded by the proper hands. It has runed edges and a large glowing handle. It seems as if it has been in many fights,but still seems to be in a condition beyond a warrior's skills. It is coiled around at one end to form a comfortable handle. At the other end is a nasty metal spike to torture the opponent further. This weapon is light and deadly, but takes great coordination to wield effectively. The blade is stained red with the blood of many victims, so you are unable to discern the sort of metal from which it was forged. The blade is straight, sharp, deadly and hideous-looking, as well. The hilt is wrapped in a criss-cross design with what you assume to be elven sinew. The end of the hilt is designed as an elven skull... with a large fracture, of course. Name: crude wooden spear %% pesky little orc in camp near Esgaroth %% Value: 15 Status: standard item Power: Negligible Desc: This long, wooden spear has been quickly crafted. It appears that the spear was not even made by a weaponsmith. Instead, a pathetic attempt has been made at constructing a weapon of even mediocre quality. It is somewhat crooked, and the shaft is full of splinters. A bent iron head has been attached to the end of the spear by means of an aged, leather strap. Name: cruel orcish whip %% orc prison guard in Dale orc camp %% Value: Status: standard item Desc: The handle of this whip is a hard iron grip. The whip itself is about four feet long and made of woven leather. The tip has a devilish looking tassle on the end, comprised of several small iron hooks. This thing could really hurt someone. The blade itself is completely devoid of any reflecting surface. Looking at it, you wonder how many times it has sunk into the flesh of an unsuspecting victim. At the end of the cord there is a shiny iron ball, about the size of an eyeball. There are tiny spikes protruding from the iron ball, whose purpose it is to rip the skin of the wielder's victims to shreds. This weapon was probably custom-forged by its wielder, but the leather grip that hugs the base of the shaft fits you reasonably well, and a controlled swing of the hammer would most likely cause a good deal of damage to the recipient. It has lead weights at the business end to lend it more crushing force, and a fearsome, curved spike of metal protrudes from its tip to add some gashing and ripping to the damage it is capable of inflicting. The wood is quite strong, however there are several dents along the shaft. The handle is tightly wrapped in soft leather for an almost perfect grip. A heavy steel chain is attached to the other end of the shaft. From the chain dangles a large metal ball with several iron spikes extruding from it. Several of the spikes are bent, and battered. The flail looks very heavy. The ball is made of a strong, heavy metal with large jagged spikes coming out of it. The weapon looks like it could be very difficult to use, but probably packs a strong punch in the right hands.
