Miranda Otto plays the neice of king Theoden, being brought up by her uncle after her parents were killed by orcs. Eowyn being brought up to as a man and taught to fight makes her long to get involved with the action of fighting but her being a female stops her from doing so. In the film she also falls in love with Aragorn but knows that she cannot be with him however much she loves him. There is a great affection towards each other and this is obvious in the film. Eowyn so many times has been tempted to go and tell him or to at least throw in a signal of her love for Aragorn but there have always been things that have stopped her and she knows herself that Aragorn loves only Arwen. She is almost like a tortured soul herself
