~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~ 1. What got you started writing? Reading others' fanfic that I really loved. I started out reading at the X-Files Official Site Message Boards and found so many stories I really enjoyed. I also think I was motivated by feeling that as much as I loved the show, there always seemed to be room for more; more explanation, more action, more relationship development. 2. What type of story do you like writing most? Although many of my stories involve case resolution (or, in the truest sense of the X-Files, cases left with unanswered questions), relationships seem to be the heart of the story for me. I've written stories rated PG-13 -- NC-17. Although I started out as a (short-lived) Noromo, I feel strongly now about the MSR and love both RST and UST. I've also found that real life situations often motivate me and my muses. Stress or frustrations at work are often easily turned into angsty stories. 3. What type of story would be hard for you to write? Several different types… I'm too wordy and very short vignettes are a real challenge. Although I've written a few, I don't think I could handle any of the 150 word or similar type challenges. Unbelievable relationship pairings would also be difficult for me; slash, Scully/Doggett, etc. I realize that each writer has her/his own take on what's possible, but not for me. characterization is everything to me and I'm not able to make it work in those situations. 4. Do you/have you use(d) a beta? If so, why? I didn't for my first few stories; mostly likely because I had no idea what a beta was! Now, I wouldn't post my work without my betas. I'm very lucky to have two betas who have also become very close friends. We've even been fortunate enough to meet. They provide me with everything from grammar and punctuation to wording and opinions on story ideas and characterization. They also provide terrific support and try to nudge my muse when she's being a stick in the mud. 5. Is reader feedback important? It certainly is. I write because I truly love it, but reader feedback has helped in so many ways. Aside from making me smile and feel good, readers have also posed questions and raised issues I might not have thought of initially. Their feedback helps me grow as a writer. And did I mention just how much I love getting feedback? Tell us something (unique?) about yourself. Hmm…I have a rather addictive side…some might say it borders on an obsession when it comes to DD/Mulder. I am occasionally embarrassed by the fact that my computer room walls are 'artfully covered' with lots of DD/Mulder (as well as other XF characters) pictures and posters and calendars and magazine pages… Need I go on? This addictive side translates into other areas: Beanie Baby bears, electronics equipment, chocolate and black clothing items. ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~
