Swords, Sally, and Mooncakes

Author: Andrea Weiling

A/N: I saw myself in this strange dream, so I couldn't resist writing this fic. Just for some background info, August 15 is the Night of the Mid-autumn Moon. The moon is like a giant cookie and takes half of the sky. The Chinese eat tasty cakes in different shapes that night, all with different fillings.

"Idakadimasu, minna-san!"

Duo lifted his fork and spoon into the air in jubilation and tucked in greedily. The other occupants of the table stifled their giggles and laughter before eating. Sally took notice of the empty seat beside Heero and commented lightly, "Wufei's not here."

Quatre answered her rephrased question. "Wufei's not gonna eat here tonight. Said he had something to do. By the way, scrumptous food, Noin", he said around a mouthful of pasta.

Noin pretended to blush and answered, "Why, thank you, gallant gentlemen."

Duo hastily swallowed a mouthful of food and stood up. Taking a fighting stance, he proclaimed in Wufei's voice, "What about me, woman?"

Everybody kneeled over with laughter. Their laughter was short-lived when a flash of light illuminated the room. It was not the giant moon outside. Duo yelped and covered his head. When nothing happened after that, he quivered, "Is the bad monster gone yet?"

Quatre began to worry. "What about Wufei? Did he say anything about staying the night here or at somebody else's house?"

Sally looked uncomfortably at her feet, blushing like mad. Good thing no one notices me.

Heero spoke. "I think we should spread out to look for eachother. Two go to the woods west, two go to the north, two go to the east, and the rest to town, which will be enough a big place for you to search."

Trowa pointed to Cathy, Sally, Dorothy, Relena, and Hilde. "Stick together in town. Pay close attention to your purses; dark things happen on such night as this."

The girls nodded and set off into town. "Alright," Duo spoke, his tone serious, "Heero and I'll go west. Trowa and Quatre go north. Noin, you'll be on your own in the eastern woods."

"Let's go then," Heero walked toward the main door. As soon as it closed, a flash of light came and went, the dinner plates flashing mockingly.

"Any sign?" Heero asked once everyone had met.

"Nope."

"Uh-uh."

"Not a chance."

"It's like he disappeared in air."

The flash came once again. "It's coming from that hill...," Duo said. Everybody had started towards the door. And that's how they found Wufei, calm, composed, silently meditating. Beside him was the last remant of the Dragon Clan from X5; the sword. On the other side was a box of moon cakes.

"Ah...Wufei? Ya in there?", Duo tapped the Chinese's head lightly. In a flash, Wufei caught Duo's wrist and jerked it down so Duo fell down.

"Hey! What's the big idea!"

At this time Sally and the others (in dresses) huffed into sight. Immediatly, Sally grabbed a strangled Wufei and shook him soundly.
"Where have you been Wufei?! Do you have the faintest clue how worried we've all been?"

Wufei softly detached her hands. "No, I had no idea, woman."

Sally was happy to take her hands off his shoulders.
"We saw flashes of light coming from around here. Do you know what it is?", Quatre looked around anxiously, reminding everyone of a scared rabbit.

Wufei picked up his sword. "I practice, then meditate. Practice, meditate, practice, meditate. Get the picture?"
"Oh", everyone chorused.

"That explains everything", Duo smiled. "Say, Wu-man, mind if I have a cake?" he reached for the box.

"No! Injustice! Give it baacckk!"
