SPOILERS: Takes place after 'Departure'.

Cut to the Crashdown, after hours.

Alex attempts to kick over a chair, but his leg passes right through it.

ALEX: Useless. I was completely useless. Ugh�I HATE THIS.

Isabel looks at him with concern.

ISABEL: Calm down.

Maria, thinking Isabel is talking to her, turns around.

MARIA: No! You calm down. This is my fault.

ALEX: No it isn't.

ISABEL: No it isn't.

MICHAEL: (off-screen)You know whose fault it is?

They turn to look at Michael, who is standing at the door.

MICHAEL: That cousin of yours.

KYLE: Let's not just start pointing fingers. The culprit will reveal itself. Such is the way of the world.

MICHAEL: That mumbo-jumbo may impress Max and your dad, but not me.

KYLE: And I suppose going over to Maria's house and beating up her cousin on a hunch is the way to go?

MICHAEL: Works for me.

Michael heads towards the door.

MICHAEL: I'm going after him.

MARIA: Michael?

Michael turns around.

MICHAEL: Yeah?

MARIA: Give him one for me.

Michael smiles, but before he can go anywhere�

MAX: (off-screen)Nobody is going after anybody.

Max walks down the staircase that leads up to Liz's room.

MICHAEL: (muttering)Great.

They all look at Max, curious.

MARIA: Liz? Is she�

MAX: She's alright. She's asleep. She's going to be fine now.

Michael walks up to Max.

MICHAEL: I'm telling you Maxwell, Sean did this to her.

MAX: I know that?

Michael looks at him confused.

MAX: When I saved her, I saw something. Sean, threatening her. He gave her some kind of truth serum. He knows.

Maria steps in between them.

MARIA: Wait�just wait�you're saying my dorky cousin is an alien hunter?

ISABEL: It's the perfect cover. Someone who's supposedly 'on parole' doesn't need a reason for suspicious authority figures talking to him.

ALEX: And we let it slip right past us?

They all pause.

MICHAEL: How could we let this one slip past us?

ALEX: I said it first.

ISABEL: Oh, quit complaining.

Michael looks at her.

MICHAEL: Well sooooory. Anyway�no one lies to my girl. So, I'm going to make this guy have to eat jello through a straw for the next month, if you'll excuse me�

MAX: You're not going anywhere, Michael. That's an order.

MICHAEL: I should have expected this. Here we are, sitting around doing nothing once again. Did you even see what he did to Liz? Why don't you want me to�

Max cuts him off.

MAX: Because I'm going after him.

Everyone looks at Max, confused.

MAX: This should never of happened, but it did. And in almost cost Liz her life. I swear by all I hold dear, that will never happen again. I have had it with waiting for our enemies to come to us�for now on, we're going to them.

Max heads towards the door.

MICHAEL: That still doesn't explain why I can't come along.

Max turns back towards him.

MAX: Because, Michael� 'no one drugs my girl'.

Max leaves, Alex follows him.

Alex made it to the DeLuca house sooner than Max(not having to stop for cars).

He pokes his head through the wall to catch Sean on the phone with somebody.

SEAN: (on phone)No, Evans arrived before I could get anything out of her. Yeah�you're sure? Ok, no I owe you.

Sean reaches down and pulls a gun out of his pocket. He puts in a strange, red-colored bullet.

SEAN: (on phone)You sure this thing'll kill him? Wow! Goes right through his force field? He has a force field? That is so 'star trek'. Yeah, well, tell K'Var that I expect some big reward. Hey, I've seen sci-fi movies. I know what the alien warlord does to his 'servants'. Just have him promise not to kill me, okay?

Sean hangs up the phone.

ALEX: (whispering)K'Var?

Sean loads the gun and heads towards the door.

ALEX: NO!

He jumps at Sean, but then goes right into him.

Then everything goes dark.

Cut to a second later. Alex, picks himself up off the floor.

ALEX: Ok, that hurt. That hurt?

Alex feels his face with his hands, noticing that he's solid.

ALEX: What�wha?

He looks in a mirror, and sees Sean looking back at him.

ALEX/SEAN: Oh�my�god�

Cut to outside. Max is just a few feet away from the door, when Alex/Sean runs out the door, screaming.

ALEX/SEAN: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Max tries to stop him, but he keeps on running.

MAX: What was that?

Cut to the Valenti's garage. Jim and Kyle are looking at a jeep.

KYLE: Uh�dad�that's not Max's jeep.

JIM: I know that son.

KYLE: We�just bought a new jeep and re-painted it to look like Max's.

JIM: Kyle�

Suddenly, the phone rings. Jim picks it up.

JIM: Hello? Yeah, this is he� Hanson's what�?

Cut to the sheriff's office. Alex/Sean is holding a gun to Hanson's head and people gather around.

ALEX/SEAN: (imitation gangster)You'll never take me alive, copper. Nha hahahaha.

HANSON: This kid's nuts.

Suddenly, Jim Valenti barges in.

HANSON: Valenti? What are you doing here?

JIM: Saving your butt.

HANSON: Could you just let the professionals handle this.

Alex/Sean moves the gun higher.

JIM: (cautiously)Sean�put the gun down.

Alex/Sean grins.

ALEX/SEAN: Okay.

He throws the gun over his shoulder and out the window. Suddenly, a group of people tackle him.

Just as he falls to the floor, Alex 'jumps' out of Sean.

SEAN: What the�?

Kyle shows up behind his dad.

KYLE: What's going on?

Alex walks over and jumps into Kyle. Kyle staggers for a moment, before standing straight again.

JIM: Maria's cousin just took leave of his senses. Don't worry, we've got him now.

ALEX/KYLE: Great. All's well that ends well, huh?

Alex/Kyle walks into the Crashdown. Everyone sees him as Kyle, except Isabel, who sees him as Alex.

ALEX/KYLE: Well, we don't have to worry about Sean anymore.

MAX: What got into him?

Isabel's eyes go wide.

ISABEL: YOU CAN SEE HIM?!

Everyone looks at her strangely.

MAX: Yes�I can see him. Why?

ISABEL: Well, doesn't it bother you the least bit that he's supposed to be�well�DEAD?

Max looks at her, confused.

MAX: Kyle isn't dead, Iz.

ALEX/KYLE: No, but I am.

MARIA: Excuse me?

ALEX/KYLE: You see�I'm not Kyle. Well, I am�but I'm not. I'm Alex.

Everyone in the room goes wide-eyed.

ALEX/KYLE: Cool, huh?

MICHAEL: If this is a joke, it's not funny.

ALEX/KYLE: I'm a ghost, but I can go into people and control them. Like in that movie. I've been hanging around Isabel for awhile, and�

MAX: Why didn't she tell us?

ISABEL: Because I thought I was going crazy.

MARIA: I think I'm going crazy. Why didn't you, you know�possess someone before now?

ALEX/KYLE: Because I didn't think I could do it before. I just found out when I possessed Sean.

ALL: Ohhhhhhhh.

ALEX/KYLE: This is so cool. I mean, I'm like Deadman.

MAX: Who's Deadman?

ALEX/KYLE: Don't you ever read comic books? Pick up a Superman book once in awhile. You might learn something. But I think it's safe to say that, for the moment, I'm back.

Isabel runs up to Alex/Kyle and kisses him. Just then, Alex jumps out of Kyle, leaving him extremely surprised at his current possession.

Kyle backs away quickly.

KYLE: What�wha? Isabel? I mean, I'm flattered and all�but�what am I doing at the Crashdown, anyway?

They all laugh.

Maria walks up to him.

MARIA: I'll explain.

Cut to Liz's room. She slowly regains consciousness to see Max kneeling next to her bed, gazing at her.

MAX: Are you alright?

Liz slowly nods her head.

LIZ: What happened with Sean? Did you take care of him?

MAX: Actually, Alex did.

Liz's eyes go wide, and she sits up in the bed quickly.

LIZ: WHAT?!!

The exertion being too much, she falls back down again.

MAX: Easy�you're still weak from that drug he gave you.

LIZ: Alex is alive?

MAX: Technically, no. He's a ghost, but he can inhabit people's bodies and control them like puppets.

Liz smiles.

LIZ: It's weird how that doesn't seem weird to me. I think I'm getting used to stuff that's out of the ordinary.

They pause for a moment.

MAX: So�how did I look.

Liz looks at him, confused.

LIZ: When?

MAX: In the future. You know�when I came back in time�

Liz's mouth slowly hangs open in surprise.

MAX: �when I told you that you had to stay away from me�so that the world didn't end.

LIZ: How long have you�?

MAX: A few hours. That stuff Sean gave you was some sort of truth serum. You muttered something about it when you were hanging from that roof. Liz? What happened?

Liz sighs.

LIZ: Like you said�you came from the future. You told me that, unless you ended up with Tess, the world would end in 14 years when your enemies attacked.

MAX: That thing�with Kyle. You set it up so that�

LIZ: �so that you wouldn't be in love with me anymore. It worked, didn't it?

MAX: No, it didn't.

Liz looks at him disbelievingly.

MAX: You're very smart, Liz Parker. Smarter than any person, human or alien, that I've ever met. But even you aren't smart enough to find out how to make me stop loving you. I don't think anyone is.

Liz gets a sad look in her eyes.

LIZ: (quietly)But�you slept with Tess.

MAX: No I didn't.

Liz gets a surprised look.

MAX: She mind-warped me into thinking I did. And about the baby as well. I wore off when we were on the roof.

A large smile crosses Liz's face, then she lays down.

LIZ: Thank god.

Max looks at her again.

MAX: I could never be with Tess. Not now, or ever. And not even when I was hurt the worst, did I ever stop loving you.

LIZ: But�is the world still going to end?

Max stops to think.

MAX: I don't think so. In whatever future my other self came from, if I was always with you, it wouldn't mean that Tess still wouldn't of betrayed us. I think that, maybe she's the reason why the world ended.

Liz smiles at him again.

MAX: Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it really is our destiny to all die in the end.

Liz softly puts her hand on Max's cheek.

LIZ: We make our own destiny.

He looks at her.

LIZ: That's what you told me.

Max slowly smiles.

MAX: So�how did I look?

Liz smiles.

LIZ: The long hair was a bit much.

Max looks confused.

MAX: I had long hair?

Liz laughs.

MAX: Well, I can assure you that this future will never come to pass. At least the hairstyle.

Liz laughs.

Max slowly strokes her hair back.

MAX: All of this�it still doesn't excuse the way I've treated you. Could you ever forgive me?

LIZ: Let me think about it.

She reaches up and kisses him passionately.

They break apart.

LIZ: Hmm�not sure.

They kiss again.

LIZ: I've got to think about it some more.

Kiss again.

MAX: Take your time. Forgiveness doesn't come cheep.

They kiss again.

The camera pans out the window, showing the two of them continue to kiss.
