Cut to the Crashdown. Isabel is sitting in a booth, talking to someone.

ISABEL: Can you believe the nerve of this guy. It took every bit of willpower I had to not set his hair on fire.

Just then, Kyle walks by.

KYLE: Who are you talking to?

Isabel looks up at him.

ISABEL: No one. What's up?

KYLE: (whispering) My dad has gone completely insane. He wants to try and fix Max's jeep.

ISABEL: What's wrong with that?

KYLE: Nothing�except for the fact that it's only a few steps from being slag. He's crazy.

ISABEL: He just wants to try and help.

KYLE: Yeah, well, there's such a thing as being too helpful, you know?

Kyle walks away.

ISABEL: What do you think?

VOICE: I think he's right�his dad is completely insane.

ISABEL: Oh, you're nice.

We see that she is talking to Alex, who's seated across from her.

ISABEL: Isn't this starting to seem�strange�to you?

ALEX: How so?

ISABEL: Well�you're dead, remember?

ALEX: So I've been told.

ISABEL: Dead people don't eat at the Crashdown.

ALEX: It's not like I ordered anything. Look, why don't you tell someone about this, then? About how you keep seeing me?

ISABEL: They'll think I'm hallucinating.

ALEX: Maybe you are.

Alex stands up and waves at Liz.

ALEX: (hollering) HEY LIZ! YOO-HOO! OVER HERE!

He sits back down.

ALEX: See�she can't see me. How come you seem to be the only one who can?

ISABEL: Just lucky, I guess.

Cut to Liz exiting work. She locks up for the night, and prepares to go up to her room.

But, as she turns around, she sees Max standing right behind her.

LIZ: (gasps) Max, you scared me.

MAX: I didn't mean to. Sorry.

LIZ: It's okay�just give me a little warning next time.

Max looks at her.

MAX: I need to talk to you.

Liz nods her head.

They walk over to a booth and sit down, not realizing that Alex is sitting there.

ALEX: Hey, this seat's taken, you know?

LIZ: So�what's up.

MAX: I just wanted to know that things are okay between us.

ALEX: Forgot�you can't hear me, can you?

LIZ: Max�what happened to Alex wasn't your fault. You had no idea about what her intentions were. None of us did.

MAX: I know that. But I wasn't talking about Alex.

ALEX: (sarcastically)Oh, now I feel wanted.

LIZ: (disappointed)Oh.

MAX: That Kyle thing�

LIZ: �never happened.

MAX: Why did you want me to think it did?

She pauses for a moment.

LIZ: I don't know.

It was obvious that she was lying. Max looks her in the eyes.

MAX: What are you hiding, Liz?

LIZ: Nothing. I�

MAX: I can see it in your eyes. You don't want me to know about something.

LIZ: Max�please�

MAX: You know that I could use my powers and find out for myself, right?

LIZ: Yes. But you won't, will you?

MAX: No.

Max stands up and walks to the door, he uses his powers to unlock it, and then opens it to leave.

MAX: For the past 2 years, I've trusted you with my secrets. Even with Michael and Isabel said I shouldn't. Now, why can't you trust me with yours.

And with that, he leaves.

Liz sighs and leans back in the booth.

LIZ: (to herself) Just what am I doing?

ALEX: You're being withdrawn. That's not a good thing.

LIZ: I should just tell him.

ALEX: Tell him what?

LIZ: But what could I say? 'Hey Max, your future self came to visit me and told me that, unless you end up with Tess, the world is going to end'?

Alex's eyes go wide.

ALEX: WHAT?!!

Liz sighs again.

Cut to outside. Liz leaves the Crashdown and starts walking down the street. A few moments later, she runs into Sean.

SEAN: Liz�hi. What are you doing here?

LIZ: Just out for a walk.

SEAN: Isn't that a little dangerous?

LIZ: I'll manage.

SEAN: At least let me walk you home?

LIZ: I know my way.

SEAN: Ok, I realize that I'm starting to seem pathetic now. I can understand that. But�just consider what I'm going to say, okay? There's this summer party going on in the middle of town, tomorrow. It's going to be a blast, and I was wondering if you wanted to go?

LIZ: I've got plans.

SEAN: What plans? School's done, you can't work every day. You have plans with Max Evans or something�is that it?

LIZ: (sadly)No.

SEAN: Then what's the problem.

Liz starts to walk away, but then turns back towards him at the last moment.

LIZ: You don't take 'no' for an answer, do you?

Sean nods his head 'no'.

LIZ: I'll think about it.

And with that, she leaves.

Once she is out of sight, Sean's facial expression changes slightly. A devilish grin appears on his face, and a gleam of malice appears in his eyes.

SEAN: (to himself) Easier than falling off a log.
