at school Nick asked Emily: “What’s your next class?” “Uhm…maths, I
think.” Said Emily. “Ohoo…well…good luck! Let’s not think about that…now
we can relax, it’s the big break, so…” He laughed and took a breath,
“What do you think? Will your friend miss you if I take you with me?”
“Probably. Where do you want to take me?” asked Emily and tilted her head.
“I want to take you everywhere where I’m going. After all we need to get to
know each other. Do you think your friend will survive without you?” asked
Nick, imitating Emily by tilting his head. Emily pretended to be offended and
lowered her eyes at him. Then she laughed and said: “I’m not sure. What
about you take me to where you go and I take you to where I go?” “That’s a
deal.” Said Nick and smiled. Then
he took her hand and dragged her along with him to his friends. “Hey Marc,
Josh, Clarissa, Tom, Ash, Brad, Anna, Nina and… uh… Wina (twins),
Frank…” he wasn’t finished but they all already said, “Hey Nick!” he
smiled at the large group, then he went over to Marc and Josh. “Hey you
brought the girl! What was her name again?” asked Marc. “She has a voice her
own, why don’t you ask HER?” asked Nick. “Oh sorry!“ said Marc,
“what’s your name?” “Emily.” She said, happy about the way Nick
reacted. Then Josh asked the both “Are you a couple?” “Huh? Why?” asked
Nick, confused. “Because you’re holding hands!” said Josh. Now, the both
realized it, too. Emily blushed and wanted to let go but Nick held her even
tighter. “We do that, because it’s cool to do so!” said Nick and smiled at
Emily. Marc and Josh just laughed and shook their heads. Then Marc said to
Emily: “He gets crazier every day, you’ll see!” Nick gave Marc an evil
glance but had to laugh after looking at Marc for a few seconds. Then he said:
“Let’s get something to eat!” All the others but Nick, Emily, Marc and
Josh sat already in the cafeteria and ate.
They
four of them got themselves something to eat and sat down. Emily and Nick sat
next to Nina (one of the twins) and Clarissa (WARNING! Airhead!). They listened
a little bit to their conversation.
“…And
then I said to him, ‘boy, I know I’m sexy and you want me, but your not good
enough for me, I mean, look at you, you don’t even look like you do any sports,
loser!’ he was so pissed, but what did he think? I’m way too pretty and
popular for him!” said Clarissa. “Oh my god! He really asked you to go out
with him? Boy, is he silly!… Ouch, I broke a nail! Damn!” said Nina.
“Tell
me, that this is not a normal conversation between girls!” said Nick.
“It’s not, at least I think that…” said Emily. “That’s good. I was
about to give my hope on all you girls!” said Nick with a sigh of relief. Then
he grinned, “They scare me.” “Come on, it’s only two girls!” said
Emily, laughing. Nick made a scared face and said: “They have friends! Never
underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups…” Emily laughed and
said: “Marc’s right! You’re really crazy!” “Proud of it!” said Nick,
then he asked: “Do you have a boyfriend?” Emily looked at him with big eyes.
On that he said: “Don’t go all shocked! It’s just a normal question like…uh…I
can’t think of one right now, but you know what I mean!” said Nick. Emily
smiled at him and thought <<He’s funny. And not boring. I don’t know
anyone who is like him.>> then she said: “No, I don’t. Do you?”
“No, I’m not that way…“ said Nick. Emily laughed at her silliness and
said: “I mean, do you have a girlfriend?” Nick imitated her, looked shocked,
made big eyes and said in a high voice: “How can you ask me a question like
that?” Emily smacked him playfully. “Ouch. Stop that or I’ll tell my mommy
and she’s gonna kick your butt!” said Nick in a kid-like voice. “I doubt
that she’d do that. Now, don’t you want answer my question?” asked Emily.
“Oh…you want to know that because you’re interested in me, eh?” asked
Nick and raised and eyebrow. “You wish!” said Emily and laughed. “Oh, I
feel loved.” Said Nick, “now to your question: no, I don’t have a
boyfriend and not a girlfriend either.”
