BLACK TUESDAY
Copyright September 2001 Kenna Marie Clayton
As the sun arose on Tuesday morn
Life was good, our spirits high.
By sunset our nation mourned
And the world cried.
We stared in disbelief
While barbaric terrorist attacked our towers
Our disbelief turned to grief
Still another attack hit at our countrys power

A fourth attack was foiled by our fallen heroes
Thousands of our innocent and loved died
USA, the sleeping giant, arose
Our resolve was borne as our nation cried
Firemen and police our unselfish and brave
Thought not of themselves but of others
In their hour of valor the fallen towers became their graves
Our hearts bled while our children clung to their mothers

Yesterday we were divided
Like siblings we squabbled
Today our nation stands united
Cowardly monsters plotted their schemes
Believing they could tear our nation apart
Wrong! Though they may rob us of our dreams
Theyve only strengthened our spirit making us one at heart

Families of the fallen cling to hope
Americans give blood and pour out charity
Our citizens struggle to cope
Our President unleashes our law enforcement and military
Time has come for our nation to fight
We declare war on terrorism
We ask the world to in our cause unite
While we stand proud and show our nationalism
September 11, 2001, a day of infamy, was a very black Tuesday
Sorrow, grief, terror and anger we do feel
Justice we demand, confident well see our Victory Day
We are all in Gods hands and will one day heal
