Betta Breeding  101
I use four - 2 gallon tanks as breeders. In them I put a small sponge filter, Java Moss and float Salvinia Natans/Giant Duckweed on top.
I add several Ramshorn snails and a Styrofoam coffey cup cut in half lengthwise to help hold the Bubble nest in place. I fill the tanks with about 5" of water during mating, then keep adding water as I clean and the fry grow.
Female posture for the mating process. Under the Nest. Mating starts with a great big hug.
Female is removed after mating, males stays for four days to tend the fry. All those white dots are the eggs sticking to the bubble nest.
Then comes the Squeeze, which is repeated about 60 times in a 2 to 6 hour session. The Betta's love this styro cup.
