Subject:  Weekend Project - Vintage Photo Necklace & Vintage Photo Pin

As summertime is fast approaching, many people begin to attend concerts, while others attend concerts throughout the year. So, we thought it fitting to put together a series of craft ideas that will take you from now, into the summer, where you can feature your Hall & Oates photos/names/initials, in a variety of ways, that would be suitable, as a fan, for you to use while possibly attending one of their concerts.

The Weekend Project for today is, a "Vintage Photo Necklace!" They're really neat looking, and you can put a variety of photos on them. -- looks like an excellent fashion accessory for the Hall & Oates aficionado! Hmmmm...."aficionado," I like that word -- sounds so much better than a hard core, no holds barred, Hall & Oates FAN!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

At any rate, as always, you're welcome to improvise, as we sure will! For a "sample" pix of the "Vintage Photo Necklace," go to the "photos" section where you'll see samples of other projects too.

Of course, if you are not interested in the "Vintage Photo Necklace," you can try out the "Vintage Photo Pin," which also has a featured sample pix at the photos section.

PROJECT:

2. Fold leather cord in half. Weave right end of cord through right hole on bead. Then weave left end of cord through left hole on bead. Add beads and continue weaving in this way. Space beads evenly to form 3/4" width loops. Weave 21 beads.

3. Thread cord ends through one bead. Measure length of necklace so it will slip easily over your head and cut off excess at loop end.

4. Separate two gold rings and place them through paper clip on one photo frame. Slip both open rings through third loop (link) from either end of chain. Close ring by pressing ends together. Continue adding photo frames to leather chain until necklace is complete.

Initially, we got the idea for this project from,
"Book Title: More than Memories II
Description: Creative Techniques for Preserving Your Family History"

If you're not interested in "buying" this book, it's most certainly worth checking out, at your local library, and it has a variety of excellent ideas!

Of course, as usual, there was room to improvise!

This project was definitely interesting. I mostly decided to use
small pix' of the various Hall & Oates albums and a few photos of
Daryl Hall and one of John Oates.

Instead of using leather cord, I used a black plastic craft lace,
which provides a glossier finish, but, the only problem with the
plastic craft lace was, it would twist occasionally. Which is okay,
if you don't mind that look, to which I don't mind, as its glossy
finish will match my "vinyl Hi-Fi-Bag" when it arrives.

Aside from the necklace, I also did a choker which can have "one" pix centered on it, should I decide to wear that instead of the necklace.

Instead of using paper clips, I bent the wire for the loops, and
made the jump rings, from colored wire.

When it came to assembly, I "had" to use a double sided "peel &
stick," on the backs in order to affix the photo corners, and wire
loops, then, over that, I added a colored sticker, featuring a Hall
& Oates album cover, so that the back wouldn't be exposed and
sticky, due to the peel & stick.

Overall, concentrated effort took about 30 minutes for assembly and bead weaving. Prior preparation time, to cut out pix', cut and bend wire for loops/jump rings, took around 10 minutes.

I enjoyed doing this project simply because it combined a variety of my favorite things in life, (1) Hall & Oates; (2) Jewelry; and (3) brightly colored beads!

If you haven't tried this project, it's never too late!
