When Carlos was 18 enlisted in Air Force and he was sent in Korea

In the army his barrack mates nicknamed him "Chuck".

The local climate, hot cold and rainy,, maked the training more difficult. To became a Karate master was hard, but he didn't give up. After a years Carlos earned the black belt in TAE KWON DO

In his book "The Secret of Inner Strength", Chuck write:

"It is important to have a goal in mind. Accept the fact that there will be setbacks and obstacles. But if you continue to visualize that goal and work toward it, one day you will archive it."

In  1962 Carlos was dischargd from Air Force and returned in USA.

He studied TANG SOO DO, TAE KWAN DO, HARATE and all forms of the martial art.

In 1964 he entered his first Karate tournaments, and he began teaching Karate in his parent's back yard after work.

In 1965 he entered and won several tournaments:

- Los Angeles All-Star Championship - Grand Champion

- California State Championship -  Grand Champion

- Winter Nationals (San Jose) - Grand Champion

Chuck invented his own style of Karate called CHUN KUK DO: With this style (using both hands and both feet) he won the world title from 1968 through 1974. By the time he retired, he had established 32 Karate schools.

In 1968 h met Bruce Lee. Bruce teachs Chuck same KUNG FU and WING CHUN tecniques and Chuck teachs Bruce his famed "spinning back kick".
