RahXephon
The Anime Review by Moggy
I finaly finished collecting and watching this whole series, and all
the while I could not help but feel I had seen this story somewhere else before.
RahXephon is a form of the 'Giant-Robot' anime, but not the normal run of the
mill kind. This is a highbrow piece much like Evangelion, with intense
overtures of emotions lacing the story. In fact, so similar is the mood,
pacing, and story to Evangelion, you'll wonder if its creator was on the staff
for the older piece. RahXephon (the name of the giant robot in this series) is
different enough, however, to warrant a viewing even from hard core Evangelion
fans. or one, the animation is of a different style which has a sleek, clean
look to it that translates superbly in action sequences. Also, the story seems
pieced together better. While Evangelion seemed to suffer from a sudden absence
of budget, which in turned forced the creator to hack off and hash the remainder
of the story, it appears that Bone, Inc. had no problems of that sort with
RahXephon. The story has definition, and while inturrupted by the occasional
bit character storylines, it flows well and is understandable. But aside from
all that, Evangelion did it all first, and if youve seen that before, RahXephon
will seem like a possuer- 6 out of 10. If you HAVEN'T seen Evangelion, then
RahXephon is excellent- 8 out of 10.
