TV Series Review By Soy
I thought this anime was great. For a love story it was awesome! Of course it does have bad points as well. Too many episodes are dedicated to review and by the time it gets to the ending (which bites on its own) you're almost bored of watching because everything moves so slowly. The show does have great characters, and some personalities that feel more original than love stories generally have.
My favorite characters are; Arima, for his fierce love towards Miyazawa, Tsubasa, for her animal-like cuteness, and Tsubaki for her toughness and lesbian tendencies. Tsubaki is my favorite of favorites and I only wish her romance had been developed more (it was actually with a guy too ^_^)!
Watch His and Her Circumstances if you enjoy love stories, have patience and don't mind an ending with no real resolution.

TV Series Review By Moggy
A series from the director of Evangelion, Kare Kano is by far one of the most up front teen romance series I've seen. I guess thats Hideaki Anno's style. Its also his style to be oblique in his story telling method, like a Japanese counterpart to Quentin Tarentino. Initially, there is a great sense of order about the story, and the animation and character development all fall into line making a captivating piece. But, oddly enough, about midway through the series, the story begins to stutter, deviate, and eventually come to a giant halt in a heaping wreck, much like Evangelion. And at the same time, the animators resort to cheap gimicks, all but abondoning the great style that worked for the story for much of the series. I can understand an occasional episode that is presented in a different manner, but when ALL of the episodes on a disc are like that(and cheaply done to boot), it grates on one's nerves. Again, much the same happened to Evangelion, so I lay most of the blame on the director. he has vision, he just cannot seem to adequately finish the story. Its a pity to, because Kare Kano is great in the first half. First Half- 8 out of 10; Second Half- 5 out of 10.

Character Feature Yukino Miyazawa by Rae
Here is a character that, in the beginning of the series, shows an immeasurable degree of vanity and, though it may be entertaining, possesses a personality that is, well, bad. Still, I loved Yukino Miyazawa from the beginning, both of them. She reminds me of myself and most of my friends. A girl who wants one thing and feels one way, but acts a completely different way and creates an illusion to get what she wants. What highschool kid hasn't done that once in their life, or all of their life for that matter? Of course, as the series progresses Yukino's true colors show, which in my opinion, don't deviate that much from her fake personality, save perhaps her wicked temper. She is kind and understanding, except when she is angry, and Yukino faces the same problems real girls do, but handles them in a unique and highly entertaining way. In the end she is a true friend and an intelligent problem solver, never mind her vanity, she is afterall, just a teenager.
