Shannen was born in Memphisis Tennessee on the 12th April 1971 to Mom Rosa and dad Tom. She was raised in conservative southern baptist household. Her family moved to LA when Shannen was just 7 years old.

Her first big shot at acting was as Jenny Wilder in Michael Landons Little house on the Prairie at the age of 10. She said 'I was 10 years old, it was alot of fun. I loved Michael Landon.' She went on to star in other small Tv roles but it was playing bitchy Brenda in Beverly Hills 90210 at the age of 18 that made her a household name. However this was also the start of her bad-girl image that she still carries today. She was let go by her bosses after rumoured arguments occured between her and the rest of the cast and repeated lateness on the set, in 1994. After being asked in an interview if she looked back on those days fondly she replied 'I never look back on it.'

After bing fired from the teen series she moved effortlessly moved from tv to film roles starring in 'Heathers', 'Girls just wanna have fun', 'Night shift' and 'Mallrats' and many more.(see filmographys)

Her next big Tv role was as Prue Halliwell in Spellings fantasy drama 'Charmed'. She portrayed the eldest of a trio of sister witches with the power of telekenisis. In 2000 she left the hit show because she said she was restless and wasnt finding the work challenging enough anymore. There were also reported rumours that the off-screen relationship between Shannen and co-star Alyssa Milano was continually causing stress and arguments on the set. Shannen said: 'I have never had an upfront confrontation with Alyssa.... I went to Paramount and asked them to let me off the show. I was unhappy, and I just felt that the work wasn't fulfilling.' She also said that she didnt want to be known as the witch from tv she wanted to be known the 'girl that could could act her ass off'. She was quick to point out that there has never and will never be any problems with herself and Holly. 'She's one of my best friends and I love her dearly'
