The family name Tagliaro seems to be a second name token by our Italian
ancestrals - once they used to say, they descended from Danish Cimbrian
barbarians wich came to Italy fleeing from religious persecutions.
The information regarding to this fact, are very vague, but, seemingly,
the whole area of Altopiano de Aziago, descends of Cimbrios, a barbarian
folk that invaded the Roman empire in the year 1100 and were defeated
in a battle at the margins of the Po river. But some should have been remaining
alive, because the Cimbrian dialect, spoken by the people of the altopiano,
contains many words of old German and of the dialect spoken by the Danishes.
Our ancestrals, according to the tradition of the family, started to
denominate Tagliaro, - due to a tree called tagliaro that would exist in
front of its house - but that is already another MYSTERY of our family......
The family name Tagliaro can be seen in two documents:
1-Bartolomeo's decease document, with the following text "Bartolomeu
Tagliaro, son of Antonio
Tagliaro and Catarina Marini, widower of Elizabetta Baú,
died to the ninety years (age) in
Bento Gonçalves, in 10-09-1889. Buried in the Parochial Cemetery"
2-A graduation certificate of Antonio at the Scuola Elementare Maggiore
Maschile di
Padova, that mentions him as son of Bartolomeo Tagliaro.
If we were Tagliaro as the family emmigrated to Brazil, how did the
name changed to Tagliari?
There are Several hypotheses regarding to this fact:
1 - The old ones said the name was changed in such a way not to divide
their lands with the relatives that had been left in Italy.
2-It can be a result of a mistake of the clerk when baptizing the children
of the Tagliaros: As they didn't have documents, it was usual to answer
the question "who are you?" saying the family one was belonged: " I am
Angelo, of the Tagliaro " (Io sonno Angelo, dei Tagliari) because
Tagliari is the plural of Tagliaro (this seems to be the most probable
hypothesis).
3- It could also be something deliberatelly done by the Tagliaros,
whether to flee from the Italian military service, or be to turn
off any identification with some relative left in Italy ( once the old
ones insisted on affirming they had not left relatives there).
AND WHAT ABOUT THE TAGLIAROS?
As the grandparents affirmed they were the only one Tagliaros in Italy, it was surprising to the new generations to take knowledge about Tagliaros living in Italy.
Bartolomeo Tagliaro, was son of Antonio Tagliaro and Catarina Marini.
He had more two brothers, which became priests.
Bartolomeo, married with Elizabeta Baú (one can imagine the
imbroglio: the father and two sons
married with women of the same family), had 5 children when a terrible
snow avalanche abated on its house killing the 5 children. Bartolomeu and
Elizabetta survived because, they had left the house to go to the stable
to calm the animals that, perhaps foreseeing the danger, were excited.
Only after this terrible misfortune, Angelo and Antonio, our
ancestral ones were born.
Therefore, it is to be supposed that, after Bartolomeu's emigration
with its two sons, there was no more Tagliaro in Aziago.
But Tagliaro still exists in Italy, in Aziago (the family now resides
in Bologna, but possesses a house in Aziago, where they pass the vacations)
and There is also a doctor Tagliaro working at the university of Manaus:
he is from Italy and has changed his name to Talhari (just like our ancestors
and some of the newest generation).
According to Priester Laurentino Tagliari, that wrote Família
Tagliari's first history, and also in accordance with Eduardo Tagliari
that visited Aziago in 1968 and my brother Paulo Henrique Tagliari, wich
was there in 1994; the Tagliaro from Italy " many are configured with our
body and faces characteristics, traditions and tastes, in a succession
of personal names similar to that of our family".
Also as explained to Eduardo Tagliari from the Tagliaro from Ronchi
(wich have the same tradition of the snow avalanche), they would be descendants
of one of the 5 children of Bartolomeo, which would have survived the avalanche
and, found by strangers was created on this family. Later on, this children
would have sought Bartolomeu, that didn't recognized him as son (Perhaps
this fact can be the reason for the the change of the name to Tagliari
here in Brazil)
WHERE DID COME THE OTHER BRASILIAN TAGLIARIS FROM?
Well, our ancestor ones emigrated, they changed the name to Tagliari
with " i " and in Italy were the Tagliaro with " o". Then, how to explain
the existence of other Tagliaris in São Paulo, that
emigrated later directly from Italy to the port of Santos, and apparrently,
doesn't have anything with Bartolomeo Tagliaro? And who is Mauricio
Tagliari ( with "i" , who seemingly has no one parental relationship with
our Tagliaris and also with the ones from São Paulo? And what
about a certain Tarciso Tagliari, graduated public employee of the civil
registrations office of the Autonomous Province of South Tirol in Austria?
There are so many unanswered questions, but we got the luck to unmask
at least one mystery:
That soccer player named Tagliari wich played by the team of Duisburg
in Germany in the seventyes, is a descendant of Bartolomeo, venturing in
Europe and today lives in Bahrain where is Coach manager of a local soccer
team.
