Sailing
The Christian Sailing Club continued 'till we  married in 1978 and moved to Ojai, CA.  Cindy and I continued to sponsor cruises with the youth group at church.

We left Ojai in 1980 and did no sailing until we moved to Porterville, CA and purchased a Korelle Junior/Atlanta Bootsbau (hull #4360-built in 1971), West Germany in 1987.  Her maiden voyage for us was on Huntington Lake...reputed to be the second best sailing lake in the world.  I loved it!  Our boys, then 6 and 3 years of age, HATED it...the boat tipped!!!

Poor boat...dad wanted to spend time with wife and kids...so, the boat's been "moored" in our back yard from '88 'till '01.  Last week, a neighbor and I went sailing on his new-to-him Hobie 14.   Wind...waves...the sound of the wind vibrating through the stays/shrouds and the "shink...shink...shink" of the halyards against the mast...
What have I been missing?

Currently I'm sanding, varnishing, repairing, etc. the Korelle Junior with the hope of again getting aboard ship.
While in elementary school, I studied and drew boat pictures from the National Geographic book Men, Ships and the Sea.

I learned to sail when I was in junior high school..Carlsbad, CA YMCA camp--sabot & a Penguin 11 (?) and an awful SUNBURN:-(

In addition, I've been reaquainting myself with the West Wight Potter 15 , a 40+-year-old design that's quite seaworthy.  This boat would not only allow me to sail on local lakes, I could resume sailing to Catalina and sail the San Juan Islands in Washington.  I've joined the Potter-Yachters.
September 9, 2001 Andrea and I traveled to San Diego, CA and purchased Kernel Potter, WWP 15 hull number 400. She was built by HMS Marine in 1971.
Sailing Adventures
In college, I took a "refresher" course, then set about realizing my dream of sailing!  I sailed @ Dana Point for a few months, then joined the Windward Sailing Club in Newport Beach, CA then started the Christian Sailing Club, in Orange, CA. I have many happy memories of group sails to Dana Point, Long
Beach and
Catalina Island.
