Spider-Man 2 should be good. It will have a much higher budget and hopefully a much better ending. I mean no one not even Spider-Man could say no to a pleading, crying Kirsten Dunst! Oh well, it's rumored that the Lizard and Doctor Octopus will be the villains in the sequel.
According to Empire magazine, Sam Raimi says he's already behind on preproduction work for the sequel and that a story treatment should be done at this point, but it's not. That means a finished script is way off, which means the start of shooting, set for January 2003, will have to be delayed a bit.
Raimi also told Total Film that he would have liked to use Kingpin in the sequel, but he can't because that character will appear in Daredevil (played by Michael Clarke Duncan) instead. Raimi says the next villain won't wear a mask, as the Green Goblin did, because one of the first film's big obstacles is that Spidey and his enemy had to talk through masks. This time around, Raimi says, "If I can not see their faces or their eyes, it doesn't work for me."
