Make Reading Fun! (formerly Parents Sharing Books)
Used in hundreds of communities, Make Reading Fun! is an ideal introductory family involvement program.Through a series of meetings, you can show parents how to read with their children and communicate better-in ways that are fun for both. Parents become more involved with their children's learning, and children's reading comprehension and motivation to read are given a boost.  Each participant will receive all the training and materials needed to lead a Make Reading Fun! program for parents with children from birth through Grade 9 - a HUGE manual plus the book, Help Your Child Read and Succeed.Transparencies and handout masters in Spanish are available.
Who should attend?
Potential leaders of parent groups: Title 1 teachers/directors, classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, librarians/media center directors, parent volunteers/paraprofessionals, principals, Even Start personnel, family involvement coordinators, Head Start directors/teachers, special education teachers/ coordinators.
Cost
$3450 for 25 participants; only $85 for extra participants, max. 50. Cost includes materials for participants, workshop fee, and presenter's travel expenses.
