Land and Marriage Records of Johnston Co., NC, show that the entire family
lived in that location for several years.

Logan Temple Records (?) indicate James had brothers Hopkins, Jonas, Joshua,
John and Simon (or Simeon) Hopkins died, reportedly in 1844 and his nephew
McCaslin did his temple work for him in 1886
Brother Johan reportedly married Mary McCullough to whom he was sealed 14 Aug
1871 (where?) but his endowment date reported as 14 Sep 1886 (probably Logan)

In the Pittsfield Library is a Day Book kept by Francis Clark, when he owned the cider mill and distillery at the south end of town. It is interesting to speculate whether he had a so-called store or was just a Yankee trader. In 1793 he sold meat,cheese,butter,corn,wool,sugar,seed and brandy to, among others, Thomas Ward.
