| Catherine was called Katie. She was born October 18, 1844 in Kentucky and moved with her parents, James Madison Perrin and Virginia Gardner Perrin, to Texas in 1845. Katie married Andrew (A. J.) Pogue in 1868. They had 2 children, Alfred Madison (Matt) and Laura. A. J. was "killed on a horse" according to family records before 1880. We are not sure of the exact date of his death or where he is buried. In the 1880 census Katie was living in Franklin County, Texas and was listed as head of the household with her 2 children. Later, Katie married Sidney S. (S. S.) Lackey. They lived in Hopkins County, Texas. Katie died December 2, 1895 and is buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery (near Sulphur Springs) in Hopkins County, Texas. Below are their headstones. Katie must have been very special because the inscription at the foot of her headstone reads "We all loved her". |
