What a hot week! I took Monday and Tuesday off to hang out with the kids, and we've just been playing too much. I keep waiting for a rainy day to call us inside, but it just isn't coming. It did rain a little on Monday, but not enough. I need to gain control of my house, it usually doesn't look this bad until July or August! Yikes. Mother would be very disappointed in me. :-( And Michael is getting REALLY tired of the unfinished quilts laying around. I simply said "build me a quilting room and we wouldn't have this problem". He wasn't amused.
But it's been fabulous weather. We have been canoeing, kayaking, and grilling out on the pontoon. On Saturday we canoed so long we all got a bit scorched. Maybe that's what they sell sunscreen for??? But it's nothing so bad that we're blistered or anything. I've also gotten 2 more rock gardens built. The library was selling shade plants dirt cheap (no pun intended) at Musky Fest this weekend, so I got as many hostas as I could. Now to get the dogs to stay out of them...
The kids invited our Pastor's son Schneider over after church on Sunday, so they were in the water practically all afternoon, or else jumping on the trampoline. It's a bit nervewracking when it's someone else's child leaping all over the tramp.
This week Michael made the decision to join the Sawyer County Search and Rescue team. A friend has been after him about it, and he's finally ready. Once a month they go on trainings, such as rock climbing, repelling, diving, etc and he is really looking forward to it. I believe he starts this month or next. I'll let you know if he falls off a cliff or something, but I have the utmost faith in him. And I'm proud of him for wanting to do it. Unfortunately, the team is needed here in Sawyer.
And that's about it. Nothing too eventful, but life seems busy nonetheless. And quite enjoyable.
Tomorrow the kids leave for summer camp, come back on Thursday, and then it's off to Grandma's house on Friday night. We'll be staying there until Monday, then heading back. But not before dropping the kids off by Uncle Joe and Aunt Beth's house. They are really looking forward to the visits. (as are we!) :-)
To those of you who have been signing the guest book and sharing what you've been doing...THANKS! I really appreciate it. My whole objective with this website was to make me feel closer to our really spread out family, and you are helping more than you know.
So that's it from the Northwoods. Some of you I will see soon, others I will not, but you are ALWAYS in our thoughts.
But before I go, I would like to ask for your prayers. A man who is very dear to us is very sick. Some of you may know, it's Matt Kunz's father. He has cancer and is gravely ill. Matt is like another son to us and his whole family is just wonderful. Please, remember them all in your prayers, and if you happen to see Matt, give him an extra big hug for us.
We love you all! God bless America and Happy 4th of July! Hopefully I'll have more pictures to post.
