- Nursing Mothers in the
Workplace Act
- Break time for nursing
mothers
- An employer shall provide
reasonable unpaid break time each day to an employee who needs to
express breast milk for her infant child. The break time must, if possible run concurrently with any
break time already provided to the employee. An employer is not required to provide break time under
this Section if to do so would unduly disrupt the employers operations.
- An employer shall make reasonable
efforts to provide a room or other location, in close proximity to the
work area, other than a toilet stall, where an employee described in
Section 10 can express her milk in privacy.
- Two breastfeeding bills were
submitted in Illinois in the year 2001.
- Grants a credit against the
tax imposed by the Illinois Income Tax Act in the amount of expenditures
required for providing an on-site lactation room on the premises of the
tax payer's workplace; relates to the requirements of the lactation rooms.
Missouri Legislation
- Notwithstanding any other
provision of law to the contrary, a mother may, with as much discretion as
possible, breast-feed her child in any public or private location where
the mother is otherwise authorized to be.
