Descendants of Ian Robbins

Proverbs 17 v6... Children's children are a crown to the aged,
and parents are the pride of their children.

There is some controversy as to where the family, specifically Ian, was from. Robins, with or without a double b, is a surname from the Christian name Robert. It is quite widely distributed. A contact I have in England says she has been doing Somerset transcriptions and found a number there, also in Devon, as well as Gloucestershire. The Christian name Ian is indubitably Scottish, and that paired with Mary McGray's name suggests that the family did, in fact, come from Scotland.
Some documentation shows a strong line in England (Robbins Journal v.1 No.1 July 1989 ROB 025). It is thought that this family was Separate Baptists, a dissenter group, and moved from England to Wales, and then to America. It is my belief that Ian & Mary may have gone from Scotland to England, where they raised their family. At this point I believe Isaac & Sarah McGray had William & Elisha in England, then traveled (with whatever other ancestors I have yet to uncover)to Wales, where Richard was born. From there, I believe the young men, with their families boarded ships heading for the Americas. It is this that I am working on for verifiable facts.
This lineage is extensive, and I have done my best to confirm its accuracy. However, if you find a discrepancy, please email me & let me know. If the information is useful to you my efforts to gather it all will be well worth it. If you have information you would like to contribute, I would be very thankful. I will continue to research the Robbins family and will post any new information I might uncover.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my many "cousins" for their contributions of information and photographs. This part of my heritage has proven to be richly rewarding by simply meeting new family and opening communications with those I have lost touch with.
Because there is so much information I have branched it at this point, and at several families within. Just click on the highlighted link to follow the lineage.
