| Storm Petrel - Last reported in Falmouth area: 22/06/2007 from Swanpool beach after strong Southerly winds previously +fog. The conditions brought in 171 on the 21st with 15 lingering on the 22nd. May/June is the best time to see them in the area as they migrate north to nesting grounds/on feeding trips. Looking offshore for the birds walking and fluttering like bats over the waves in only the way petrels do. There is possibly a small colony breeding on Gull Rock in Gerrans Bay but the largest colony is on the scillies. |
