Firecrest - Last reported in Falmouth area: 20/10/2007 at St Mawes, north of the village in conifers along the Carrick Roads. Firecrest is a fairly regular bird at several sites in the area including Swanvale, the cemetary at Swanpool and Argal Reservoir. It has also been seen at Ponsanooth sewage works and is likely at other sewage works in the winter. It doesn't breed in the area and is just a autumn passage migrant and winter visitor. In some years it can pass through in good numbers and 2007 appears to be a good season so get out there and check these sites! |
