A spare battery can come in handy if you use your cassiopeia for listening to music since a typical life for a battery when listening to music is around 5 hours. This can vary depending on volume and screen brightness.

The only reason i can think of for having another cradle would be to sit your EM-500 in when at your desk in the office.

The backup battery is something not every keeps a check on, but if you dont you are likely to loose everything in memory if the main battery goes flat and there isnt sufficient charge in the backup to keep the memory sustained.
