| Best Buddies is an international organization desigined to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. A volunteer who is interested in. participating is matched with a "buddy", a person with intellectual disabilities. The pair that is matched are suppose to talk at least once a week and hang out at least twice a month. The ultimate goal is for a natural friendship to develope between the two. Best Buddies helps people with intellectual disabilities meet and make friends with those who do not have intellectual disabilites. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

How often does FHS Best Buddies Meet? The Best Buddies Club will usually meet 1-2 times a month after school and there will usually be an out of school group activity once a month. What are some out of school activities that the FHS Best Buddies chapter will do this year? Go to the Movies, Go Bowling, Christmas Caroling, School Sporting events, and many more! How often are Buddy pairs suppose to communicate? Buddy Pairs are to talk at least once a week and hang out together twice a month. Im not sure that I would be able to commit to having a buddy; can I be a part of the club without having a buddy? Yes, Best Buddies has associate members who attend meetings and come to the activities but are not matched to a specific person. What happens at a Best Buddies Meeting? At a Best Buddies Meeting we discuss upcoming chapter events, get to know buddies and peer buddies better, and have some fun. A meeting is a great time to talk to an advisor about a match problem and to address chapter issues. |

| Buddy? A student with an intellectual disability who is matched in a one-to-one friendship with a peer buddy for one academic year. Peer Buddy? A high school student who is matched in a one-to-one friendship with a buddy for one academic year. Associate Member? A student who is not able to be matched, but is still part of the chapter, attends chapter activities, meetings, and fundraiser. |
