Purpose

Alleviate some of the stress of preparing meals by having other members cater to you on a regular basis.

A.  Overview of the Dinner Co-op

Four families are assigned to a dinner team.  Dinner team members jointly determine the day per week that they would like a prepared meal.  One day each month, one of the members of the dinner team is assigned to prepare meals for the other three members and deliver them to their house.  In this way, each member cooks one day per month, and in return, he/she will receive a meal for the remaining three assigned days that month.

B.  Food Preparation

  1. Dinners should include a source of protein, at least one vegetable, and a bread/starch type item.  Other items, such as dessert, are optional.  All dinners, including vegetarian and spicy foods are allowed  (see "Special Team Restrictions" below).

  2. Dinners should serve the number of people in each individual team members' family, regardless of the ages of children.  For example, a family with two adults, one school-aged child, and one baby would receive 4 servings of dinner each week.

  3. Whenever possible, meals should be delivered in disposable/reusable containers (such as aluminum foil, zip-lock bags, recycled plastic/aluminum containers.  IF YOU PREFER, you may deliver meals in your own clearly marked (with your name) glass, ceramic, and/or plastic dishes.  However, these dishes might not be returned to you until the person you delivered dinner to brings you a dinner later in the month.

  4. If a side salad  is part of the meal, it should be assumed that everyone has their own salad  dressing unless the dressing is specific to the meal's recipe  (such as Caesar Salad).

 C.  Food Delivery

  1. Each member is assigned one week per month to make and deliver dinner.  If you will be unable to make and deliver your meals on your regularly assigned week, it is your responsibility to trade with another team member and notify the other members of your team of the switch.

  2. If you will be unable to receive a meal on a given week, notify the member assigned to prepare food for that week of your cancelation.  There are NO MAKE-UPS unless the member assigned to prepare meals offers to freeze your dinner and deliver it later.

  3. Dinners should be delivered between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Team members should make arrangements to receive food during this time period each week.  If you would like to deliver/receive the meal earlier, you are responsible for contacting your team members and making arrangements.

  4. If your assigned meal preparation and delivery day coincides with a holiday, it is your responsibility to contact the other members of your team to decide on an alternate day of the week (unless you all decide on sharing the holiday dinner).

 D.  Emergency/Sick Policy

Every effort should be made to prepare meals as scheduled.  However, if an illness or emergency arises, please contact each team member and reschedule your meal delivery for a different day.

 E.  Special Team Restrictions/Food Allergies

Each team will be notified as to the different food preparation restrictions that may be applicable, such as nuts restriction, dill allergies, etc.
